Distinguished by a uniquely fast and versatile design, the Canon EF-mount Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM is an Art-series zoom, covering wide-angle to normal focal lengths. Separating itself from the pack, this zoom features an exceedingly bright f/1.8 constant maximum aperture, which suits its use in difficult lighting conditions and offers impressive depth of field control throughout the zoom range. The optical design incorporates a series of SLD and aspherical elements, which help to achieve high clarity and sharpness by suppressing various aberrations, color fringing, and distortion. A Super Multi-Layer Coating has also been applied, too, which controls lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy. Balancing the optical merits, this 18-35mm also sports an advanced Hyper Sonic Motor, along with an internal focusing design, to promote fast, quiet, and precise autofocus performance.

As part of the Art line within Sigma's Global Vision series, this lens is designed to achieve truly notable optical performance and is ideally suited for creative and artistic applications.

Wide-to-normal zoom is designed for APS-C-format Canon EF-mount cameras and provides a 28.8-56mm equivalent focal length range.

Impressively bright constant f/1.8 maximum aperture is well-suited for working in low-light conditions and also provides greater control over the focus position when using shallow depth of field techniques.

Five Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements are featured in the optical design and help to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved clarity and color accuracy.

Four aspherical elements are used to help limit distortion and spherical aberrations and also contribute to greater overall sharpness and accurate rendering.

A Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to lens elements in order to minimize lens flare and ghosting and contribute to producing contrast-rich and color-neutral imagery, even in backlit conditions.

Integrated HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), along with an internal focusing system, realizes quick and quiet autofocus, which is further complemented by an optimized AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing performance. The HSM also permits full-time manual focus control simply by rotating the focus ring at any time.

Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

Constructed using a Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material for greater precision and use in wide temperature variations. Additionally, a brass bayonet affords improved mounting accuracy and rigidity.

This lens is compatible with the optional Sigma USB Dock for fine-tuning different lens characteristics and updating its firmware.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the two-lens kit come with a hard case?

A: Although a hard case is not included with this kit, each lens would have their own case.

Q: 2. Will these lenses "barrel out" (i.e., change length) when zooming? Ideally I'd like to be able to use a matte box with these. (If they do change length, maybe a clamp-on matte box is the way to go?)

A: The zoom of these lenses are internal. They do not increase in length when zooming.

Q: 3. Works on ZV-E10 II?

A: Sony ZV-E10 II Mirrorless Camera can only accept Sony E-Mount lenses and the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 and 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lenses Kit for Sigma SA will not be compatible. You can find the list of compatible zoom lenses here: https://bhpho.to/4c3guzj.

Q: 4. Will I see any vignette on super 35?

A: No, there won't be any vignetting.

Q: 5. is this lens compatible with bmpcc4k?

A: You will need to use a Canon EF to MFT lens adapter to mount these lenses on the BMPCC 4K.

Q: 6. Are these lenses parfocal when I put it on my blackmagic 6k?

A: All Sigma DSLR lenses are Varifocal and are not Parfocal regardless of the camera they are attached to.

Q: 7. Why is it more expensive to buy the lens kit than it is to just buy them both separately?

A: The bundle is more expensive because it also includes 2 Sigma protection filters and the usb dock.

Q: 8. Does the Sigma art lens work with Dual Pixel CMOS AF on the Canon C300 MKII? Especially face tracking?

A: You should have no issue using any Sigma lens on the C300 Mark II using focus tracking.

Q: 9. Is it correct that the 18 to 35 mm F 1.8 and the 50 to 100 mm F 1.8 do not connect directly to the E-Mount cameras?

A: The provided MC-11 adapter will allow these lenses to fit any Sony E mount body, particularly the models with an APS-C like the A6000.

Q: 10. Can I use this lens with a sony A7sii?

A: This is a apsc lens not made for full frame cameras. If you used it there would be horrible Horrible vignetting

Even though a lot of people on youtube seem to think this lens is 'meh', there's a lot to like about this lens. The images I get from it are very sharp, the zoom range is very nice for super-35 format sensors, it features a constant aperature, and it feels like a great quality build. The feature I wasn't expecting is that the internal volume of this lens doesn't change when zooming or focusing. That's really important when you work in a cold environment and then bring the camera somewhere warm as it reduces the chances of condensation on the internal elements of the lens. I really wish more manufacturers provided that as a feature. Overall, a great lens. Now if I could just get it with an RF mount...

Bought this lens for a trip to shoot water falls in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Amazing image quality and versatility. For the price, you're getting an extremely solid lens with beautiful quality, fast focusing, sharp and easy to read values. It's weight is much lighter than I was expecting; much lighter than my prime cinema lenses of similar size (which is good if you are already lugging a big camera around on hiking trails and climbing a million steps). Highly recommended. Sigma knows how to build a lens!

This is the best lense that i have ever buy. Tye photos are very sharp and clean and i like that the fish eye view on the photo is very minimum when you edit the photo. SO FAR THE BEST LENSE THAT I EVER BOUGHT. EVERY PHOTOGRAPHER DEFINITELY NEED THIS LENSE ON THEY BACKPACK. Thanks B&H for having Sigma products on they store.

I normally shoot wildlife with a 100-500mm but I needed a portrait lens for the r7 and have been wanting a wide angle lens as well. This checks both boxes and combined with the IBIS on the r7, Christmas portraits and my landscape photos are razor sharp! F1.8 also means great low light images and beautiful backgrounds. After seeing the image quality from this lens, I now have my eye on the Sigma 50-100 to fill in the focal gap. I haven’t tried video yet, but I hear it’s amazing as well. Excellent investment if you’re using aps-c for a fraction of the cost of a professional series prime. It’s like having a bag full of primes in just one lens!

I bought this 4 years ago and I still use this Sigma the most often. Whenever I go on trips and can only manage to bring one lens with my BMPCC 4k or 6k, I always grab this one. Especially love this in tight spaces.

The image quality out of this lens is amazing, great focal range, great bokeh and a nice, constant wide aperture. This is a very good lens for covering events, protest, direct actions, etc.

It is bulky and heavy, but that's just a limitation of physics.

We are using this lens on a Black Magic Design Studio Cam (older model) with a metabones adaptor, and it works beautifully. The low light application is great.

This is one of the better entry lenses. Awesome price, great focal length for cropped sensors.
My major complaint is just that it isn't the sharpest lens, even when shooting at higher apertures. (4, 5.6, etc).
But it works really well for what it is, very worth the money.

An impressively sharp lens with accurate autofocus. I use this lens on a canon r7 with the canon ef to rf adapter, and the autofocus is quiet, accurate, and fast. Great results, and excellent bokeh/depth of field. A very reasonably priced lens with features and quality that rivals lenses many times the price. One of the best options for those looking for a high quality image and professional results, at an affordable price point. Minimal softness at the edges, especially when stopped to F 2.8 or F 4. As I had heard in many online reviews before my purchase, the advantages of stepping down the aperture past F 8 - F 11 or so are somewhat limited. This lens performs best between F 2.8 and 5.6 for most close to medium range shots. That being said, it still offers nice bokeh and good image quality at fully open aperture of the advertised F 1.8. I have heard criticism that it does not perhaps have quite as much of the “3D pop” of other lenses with similarly low aperture numbers, but I haven’t found myself wanting when shooting with this lens. If I want that kind of character, I tend towards my cinema and vintage lenses when that extreme depth of field is more central to the presentation. This isn’t to say that it doesn’t possess the ability to offer those characteristics, just that I find it’s hard to replicate the undeniable qualities of a vintage canon 50mm 1.8, or a similar (or much wider) focal length cinema lens. These lenses are sought after and are frequently used for good reason. This lens is great for both photography and video, and offers a great balance of features (such as autofocus) that many vintage and manual cinema lenses just can’t offer. This is a great focal length for portraiture, street photography, highly detailed close focus nature photography, and close to mid range video shooting. This easily performs as well as updated autofocus systems, even when using an adapter for use on newer camera bodies
