Ideal for brass and sax players, the low-profile Audio-Technica ATM350U combines an ATM350a condenser instrument microphone with an AT8490 UniMount 5" gooseneck and AT8491U UniMount universal clip-on mount to give musicians the tools to perform with confidence on stage or in the studio.

With a cardioid polar pattern that reduces side and rear pickup for isolation of the instrument in loud environments, and a well-balanced 40 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response, the microphone delivers a crisp and natural sound, even at high SPLs. The clip-on mount features a rugged metal construction and rubber-lined clamping jaws with a locking screw, ensuring that your microphone stays securely mounted on the bell of your instrument, while protecting it from shock and vibration noises.

Great if you prefer to position the mic close to your instrument, the 5" gooseneck rigidly holds its shape, allowing you to play freely with the microphone staying in place, no matter how much you move about.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do I need a pre-amp to connect it to a laptop?

A: The Audio-Technica Pro 35 Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone requires a USB audio interface with XLR inputs for connection to a computer.

Q: 2. Is this mic and connector compatible with Sennheiser Evolution series beltpacks?

A: No, the cH-Style Hirose connector on the Audio-Technica PRO 35cH Cardioid Condenser Clip-On Microphone is not compatible for use with Sennheiser Evolution beltpack transmitters.

Q: 3. Will the power module fit into a xvive phantom power unit?

A: Yes, you can use the Audio-Technica Pro 35 Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone with the Xvive Audio P1 Portable Phantom Power Supply with Rechargeable Battery (B&H # XVP1). The Pro 35 is also compatible for use with the Xvive Audio U3C Set Wireless Plug-On System for Condenser Microphones - 2.4 GHz (B&H # XVU3CSET). The transmitter in this system will supply phantom power for the mic.

Q: 4. Could this mic also be used as an overhead for an interview with good results?

A: Unlikely. It is not designed for that purpose. Dependant on distance and room acoustics; this mic is designed for close proximity, generally within inches of a musical instrument. That said, in a quiet room, with 1-2' of distance this mic MAY obtain good results for a single person.

Q: 5. Can this be connected directly to an xlr cable without a base? I bought a similar mic before but it won't work unless it is connected to its base.

A: Yes- it can connect directly. However, you wouldn't be able to stand it up as you can guess.

Q: 6. How is the level of self-noise or noise floor on this microphone?

A: Thank you for your question. At this time, the manufacturer has not made that specification available.

Q: 7. Does this microphone have GSM or cell phone interference? I have the AT803b, and I get interference from GSM cell phones near the microphone.

A: I haven't noticed cell interference, but it does have a ton of handling noise. Even the faintest fabric rustle is pretty noticeable.

Q: 8. Is the end of the cable an XLR connector? I have phantom power on my field recorder and don't want to add any power modules.

A: The Audio-Technica AT831B terminates in a TA3 (miniXLR) connector, but the included power module has a regular XLR output.

Q: 9. Does this mic come with a base? I need to use it in the base that has a push to talk, push again to release setup.

A: It doesn't come with a base. I bought a Whirlwind Micmute PTD Push-to-Talk Switch to use as a base with momentary push to talk.

Q: 10. Would this be a good mic for recording a rally if crossed and paired with the zoom h6?

A: Yes, it is an excellent little mike that could be used with just about any recorder with a powered input. The Zoom does have that. I bought two of them to augment the AT-2050 mikes that I already have, to record close-up sounds such as the singer or the piano in a band. Small and versatile.
