Tiffen 77mm 812 Warming Wide-angle Filter
- Product Code: ga3543

Ideal for portraiture, the 77mm 812 Warming Wide-Angle Filter from Tiffen is used to improve skin tones when working in cool lighting conditions. This filter offers a greater warming effect than a skylight 1-A filter and is well-suited for use outdoors on overcast days or on sunny days when working in open shade. It can also be used to absorb the strong blue cast of an electronic flash for more balanced, lifelike skin tones.
The filter is constructed using Tiffen's ColorCore technology, which involves lamenting the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, grounding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and mounting within an aluminum alloy ring. The Wide-Angle version of this filter has a thinner, low-profile design compared to the standard version and omits the front filter threads in order to lessen the likelihood of vignetting when used with wide-angle lenses.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. In order to avoid having to take the ring on and off the lens every time I want to use it, I'd like to leave it on the lens full time. Are there forward threads enabling it to take a lens cap? Thanks.
A: There are no forward threads, but it works great for placing and adding filters to the lenses, very quick specially working with the Big stopper that you cannot see to focus with the filter on.
Q: 2. Do I need 77 mm Wide Angle or Standard size Adapter Ring for Nikon 16-35mm Wide Angle lens? Thanks
A: You will want the wide-angle sized adapter ring for a Nikon 16-35mm lens.
Q: 3. What is the minimum usable focal length for film camera?
A: On a 35mm film camera lens, you can use any focal length longer than 17mm.
Q: 4. I bought Lee adapter WA 77mm but can not screw in the front thread of UV BW filter. I tried directly with the filter also does not work. It seems the diameter of the thread is much smaller than 77mm. I use Nikon 24-70mm which has 77mm front thread. Any idea why it does not work?
A: Yes, give this a try. Make sure the side of the adapter with the LEE 77mm W/A is facing the lens. The adapter actually fits over the UV filter. You are probably just trying to attach the adapter in the backwards position. If the adapter does not seem to fit, turn it around and screw it on. I hope this helps.
Q: 5. Can the 105mm polarized filter attach directly to the adaptor ring?
A: The 77mm adapter ring screws on a 77mm lens. As a polarized filter has threads on only one side that screws on to the lens, it will not work with the adapter ring. I had to remove the UV filter in order to screw on the adapter ring.
Q: 6. is there any disadvantage to using a WA adapter instead of a standard adapter (other than the price difference)? Can it interfere with ones focus ring etc.?
A: I have not found any difference. Maybe the std adaptor is a bit easier to mount. I actually own both, but only really use the WA adapter ring.
Q: 7. Does this adapter fit on a canon 70x200 EF lens?
A: The LEE Filters 77mm Wide-Angle Lens Adapter Ring for 100mm System Filter Holder does fit the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM Lens.
Q: 8. Work on Tokina 11-16
A: Yes, the Sensei PRO 77mm Wide Angle Aluminum Lens Hood will work with the Tokina atx-i 11-16mm f/2.8 CF Lens.
Q: 9. I have this 77mm wide adapter. Can I use it for another lens with a 67mm filter thread? Are there any step down rings by Lee?
A: I am not aware of a ring adaptor to convert 77 to 67mm. I do have a specific 67mm ring that I use on the same Lee holder that fits my 77mm lens.
Q: 10. I have an APS-C sensor camera and want to use my Sigma 17-50mm F/2.8 lens, should I get the Lee 77mm Wide Angle Lens Adapter vs the Lee regular 77mm adapter?
A: Yes, I would get the wide angle adapter to help alleviate vignetting at the wide end of the lens.
