The Elegant Damask Matte Vinyl Backdrop with Grommets from Westcott is a 5 x 7' backdrop with a printed brown elegant damask pattern. This size backdrop is suitable for full body shots, couples, and groups. It is easy to wipe down and clean if it gets wet or is spilled upon, which makes it an excellent choice when working with food or liquids.

The backdrop incorporates five grommets, three along the top and two along the bottom, and can be paired with Westcott's X-Drop frame (not included) for hanging. Additional grommets (not included) can be added if you wish to expand your hanging possibilities. The backdrop presents a matte finish, while the printed design lends a high-end look to your photographs. It ships to you rolled in a tube.

A: The Vinyl backdrops do not have any velcro attachments. They are designed with the grommets to attach easily to the Westcott X-drop frames.

Q: 3. Is the image on the vinyl soft focus?

A: I haven't looked at in in a while but I believe it is sharp. It does photograph well. And, of course, it depends on your aperture settings.

Q: 4. Does it wrinkle easily?

A: This is a vinyl background which does not easily wrinkle.

Q: 5. How thick is the background?

A: The vinyl is fairly heavy, but combined with the backing I will roughly guess about 3/32 to 1/8 thick.The background is not folded, it's wrapped on a tube and is shipped in a very heavy shipping tube. Excellent product.

Q: 6. Can this backdrop be use on a floor?

A: Yes you can.

Q: 7. How narrow is the planked?

A: Planks sizes vary from around 7 to 9 1/4 .

Q: 8. What is the width of the individual wood planks on the backdrop?

A: Individual planks are 7 3/4 +/- 1/8 with slightly narrower planks on the edges on this background. Other versions of the plank styles may have different dimensions.

Q: 9. The description of this product refers to an optional 5’ baseboard. Where is this item found?

A: There is no optional add on (they might of planned to do it), they do have X Drop 5x12' that will give you the baseboard.

Q: 10. What font type is used?

This stuff is great for diffusion and provides a nice, even translucent surface shine your light thru! It is more durable than paper too and can be used as a backdrop as well. 5

This product is very handy if you have the need to improvise studio / tabletop lighting solutions. It is easy to cut tailor for specific needs, while not costing an arm and leg. I have found this particularly useful in creating some customized lighting solutions for close-up / product photography applications and for toning down light sources that not easily controlled (e.g., window light, overheads,etc.). 5

This product is just fabulous. I use it mainly for additional diffusion for photographing things like glass, but I definitely want to experiment by placing photographic subjects behind it to see what sort of interestng effects I might get. As for B&H, they sent it out incredibly fast and were about the only store I could find that had it in stock. 5

I use Translum both as a backdrop and as a transparent light diffuser. I sometimes shoot product shots of automotive parts. As a backdrop for dirty or greasy products, it cleans easily with mild solvent or with mild soap and water to it's original white color. It can also be used over a transparent box and illuminated from beneath or behind. Large sheets hung on a background stand can be used as a floor to ceiling soft box with one or two flash heads behind it. Also works well in bright sunlight on a frame as a diffusion panel. The product is durable and long lasting and is easily cleaned for reuse after a rough or abusive shoot. 5

I used this material to make new diffusion panels for my BronColor Hazy light. It's just an absolute pleasure to work with. It has a good rigidity yet flexible and easy to handle. 5

I cut the plastic sheet into 1/3's producing 3 tabletop seamless backgrounds. It looks so beautiful and I've gotten an insane amount of people complimenting my sculptures since transitioning to this material. It's very translucent, so I had to double up the bottom layer so the table wouldn't show through, that we the down side. It REALLY does let a lot of color through, so either use a white sheet of paper on the ground or double it up if you're using it on a tabletop. It's a bit more fragile than I thought it would be, but it works like a charm as long as you're gentile with it. Treat it like any valuable photography equipment. 5
