This 84 x 100mm Cokin P Series Graduated ND Filter is designed for use with a Cokin P Series Filter Holder. Its 0.9 to 0.3 density creates a darkening of the entire image that is graduated, allowing you to suppress specific areas of an image such as very bright skies, while providing a similar, but reduced effect in other regions of the image that can benefit from a more moderate reduction in exposure, such as reflecting water or sand. The Cokin P Series Graduated ND Filter is densest at the edge with up to a 0.9 density that tapers to a 0.3 density at the other edge. This filter's density range corresponds to a reduction of light from entering a lens by three stops to one stop.

This filter is made of durable, optical resin (CR39) and measures 1.6mm thick.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Just wondering if this filter is classified as soft, medium or hard edge? Thanks

A: It's not a graduated ND filter so there is no edge on it. The same amount of light is blocked across the entire ND filter.

Q: 2. Solar Filter: Are any Cokin filters suitable to safely view & photograph the sun? I'm gearing up for this August's solar eclipse.

A: Unfortunately, Cokin does not have any filters that are designed for solar photography usage. However, if you own the Cokin Z-PRO filter holder, which uses 4 x 4 (100mm x 100mm) filters, then the LEE Filters 100x100mm Solar Eclipse Filter, B&H # LESE100, would work in your filter holder for your photographic usage needs.

Q: 3. Is there a graduated filter made for the P series and is the p series large enough for my 67mm lens? sorry!

A: Here is the kit with the graduated filters. Please take a look at the following link: https://bhpho.to/2UD13bF And you would need this 67mm adapter ring: https://bhpho.to/2WKbw7D The P series filters are able to cover lenses up to 82mm in diameter.

Q: 4. What are the filter dimensions? 100x100 mm?

A: Cokin*

Q: 5. The problem is that the Ice ND1000 filter does not come in 50mm size. So what do I do?

A: A stepdown ring is the easy and cheap answer. One end will screw into your 50mm lens & the other will be able to screw the filter into. If you have, or are considering buying other lens you should look at buying the filter for the biggest lens and step down rings for the your other lens - that way you only need one filter.

Q: 6. This is NOT a gradual neutral density filter, correct? Thank you!

A: No, the Cokin 84 x 84mm 0.6 Neutral Density 153 Filter is not a graduated neutral density filters. As indicated in the Overview, the Cokin 84 x 84mm 0.6 Neutral Density 153 Filter is a solid ND filter providing a 2 stop exposure reduction. This 0.6 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required.

Q: 7. Do the filters come in their own hard plastic protective box?

A: Yes, they are individual.

Q: 8. Hi, I was curious as to whether or not the CokinNXZ64 was compatible with Canon cameras. I am using the Canon EOS5D and a cannon28-135 lens?

A: Its certainly compatible, you will need an adapter ring and a filter holder. The item #'s are COBZE01 & COARZP72 .

Q: 9. 1. Is it really 10 Stops ? 2. Does it have X pattern or Unnatural color cast ?

A: Yes, it does decrease the exposure by 10 stops. There have been no reports of severe banding or artifacts--X patterns are found sometimes in variable ND filters.

Q: 10. Is this filter suitable for sun/eclipse photos?

A: No. Not nearly strong enough. I found it to be far less than 6 stops. Great service from BH though, immediate refund.
