Q: 1. Is this good for full body shots?

A: Depending on your usage and height of your model, it would be sufficient if you are able to hang the backdrop 7' or 8' high and sweep a few feet onto the floor, with your model standing directly in front of the backdrop. If you would like more separation of your model from the backdrop, you will need to extend the background on the floor in post production.

Q: 3. What is the tubing diameter of the legs and centre column sections?

A: The diameter of the center column is about 7/8" (22mm) and that of the legs is about 5/8" (16mm).

Q: 4. Will this stand hold up a Wescott Ice Light?

A: The Ice Light will attach to the 1/4 -20 mounting on the top of the stand. To add tilting options I would suggest an adjustable shoe mount or tilter bracket.

Q: 5. How well does this matte black vinyl take a gridded light to create a vignette effect in a portrait? All the photos I've seen don't have it lit. Wondering if a light angled up at it would create too much of a shine or noticeable pattern due to the slight pattern in the vinyl.

A: This background could work well with a light that has a grid attached but as far what effect you will get, that all depends on which degree the grid has. With that being said, it would be best to experiment with different grids until the desired effect is obtained. While the background is textured to some extent, you may not notice that if you're shooting at a shallow depth of field.

Q: 6. Would this be acceptable for a Apollo mega soft box to keep it close to the floor?

A: Mounting the Mega with an umbrella bracket on this stand would get you within 4 to 6 inches of the floor. For contact with the floor I would suggest the #7425, 7 foot stand. It has a large footprint for stability but reduces to a small height. Add weight to the base for stability if you want to use these stands at near their full extension.

Q: 7. How do you mount it on Paper Drive? It bows under the weight. After a week or so, it droops for couple inches. I was thinking, may be to add a crosspole for the support. Will it work?

A: I think using the pole inserted into the paper roll is the best way to do it. I don't think the paper roll is sturdy enough to be a long term solution to support the weight of the background as it will weaken in the middle and break as indicated by the slight bend in the middle when you suspect it on its own weight.

Q: 8. Does this unit have a 1/4 inch thread at the top?

A: Yes, but it is capped with an adapter that allows easy attachment of Tota Lights

Q: 9. Has anyone used this professionally? Setting up, taking down. Does it wrinkle? Do you have more than one? The description says the color may vary between runs. How much does it vary?

A: This type of background is meant to be set up and left in a space, but it can rolled up without wrinkles. We have not experienced any variation in color among our current stock.

Q: 10. I want to mount this on the wall up high using the chain pull down mechanisms sold by manfrotto. Will the roll be able to be supported by the manfrotto three roll wall brackets? What is the diameter from center of roll to edge rolled up? I probably wont have any other rolls on the brackets so just want to know if it will fit (due to diameter rolled up) and will the brackets hold it?

A: It is highly recommended to add a Manfrotto 047-2 Alu-Core for Uncored Paper or Cloth - 9' (2.7 m) B&H # MA0472 in place of the cardboard core supplied with the roll. This will reduce any risk of bowing in the center of the roll while mounted on the wall with a Manfrotto Expan Drive. Otherwise, the cardboard core measures 2.125 as per the manufacturer.
