Wimberley has a system of flash bracket components that are modular, versatile and easily stowed in a small space when not in use.  Known as the Shape-Shifter Modular Flash Bracket System, the components connect without tools.  None of the combinations slip, twist or creep-even during intense action.  They're integrated with the venerable Arca-Swiss type quick release system, now dominant as the industry standard for macro and telephoto shooting.

Wimberley's F-1 Telephoto Combo Flash Bracket is ideal to use with a lens equipped with a tripod collar (with an Arca-type plate length appropriate to the size of the lens attached) and with the addition of the Module 8 perpendicular plate, you can use it with a camera as well.  With Module 1 you have the ability to adjust the vertical distance between flash and lens, as well as the ability to put the flash off-center from the lens.  As with all of the Wimberley Shape Shifter components, and unlike other manufacturer's products, the parts are captive to prevent detachment from accidentally unscrewing them too far while in the field.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is it this suite for nikon 500mm fl f4 lens?

A: The foot you want for the Nikkor 500mm f4 fl is the Wimberley AP-551. This is the one I use on my 500 fl but I can’t find it on B&H anymore.

Q: 2. Can I mount this plate directly on Sachtler 0707 FSB-8 Fluid Head ?

A: Yes, the plate is tapped for both 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 tripod mounting so it will work fine.

Q: 3. Will this foot fit in Nikon 600mm f4G? and will this foot fit the RRS BH-55 Ballhead with Clamp release?

A: For the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4G ED VR Lens you need the Wimberley Replacement Foot for Nikon 400mm f2.8 and 600mm f/4.0 AF-S B&H # WIFN400. It will work with most Really Right Stuff clamps and ballheads.(The exception would be the RRS lever-release clamp.)

Q: 4. Is this compatible with a Flex Shooter ball head (manual disconnect), a kirk plate on the shoe of an RF 100-500?

A: It has not been tested but technically the Wimberley F-1 Telephoto Combo Flash Bracket should work with the Flex Shooter ball head (manual disconnect, Kirk plate on the RF100-500 tripod collar.

Q: 5. What material is the bracket made of?

A: According to the manufacturer, the Nisha Flash Bracket (Straight), B&H # NIFBRS, is manufactured from high grade plastic.

Q: 6. I often use flash plus tripod, is there space o the bottom of this bracket to add a Arca Swiss plate if I am using it with a shorter lens that doesn't have a lens collar? I understand that with a lens collar i could mount the lens to tripod, flash bracket to camera with Arca plate

A: There are no threaded holes on the bottom of this bracket that will allow this to to be mounted to a tripod.

Q: 7. Would it work with Nikon 120-300?

A: No, the Wimberley AP-555 Replacement Foot for Select Nikon Telephoto Lenses is not compatible with the Nikon AF-S 120-300mm f/2.8E FL ED SR VR Lens. Wimberley recommends the AP-551 plate for that lens, BH #WIRFNAP55 (https://bhpho.to/2wP2v1E).

Q: 8. Does this work with Benro GH3 gimbal head? If not, then can you suggest any other Wimberley bracket that could work with it?

A: You should have no issues. The key is the Arca Swiss plate the camera is on. If it is long and double dovetail, you are set. The Benro GH3 work but we are unable to test it. For further information, you can look here. https://bit.ly/2BDJfGU

Q: 9. Can I mount a Nikon SB-900 to this bracket?

A: Yes You can mount any flash unit with universal shoe, but if the flash unit has not Wireless remote contol, you should use a connecting cable.

Q: 10. Is the tripod mounting screw double threaded? I want to mount a video monitor on it and be able too mount the camera on a tripod

A: Unfortunately, the Nisha Flash Bracket (Z-Type) does not have a screw opening on the bottom. It cannot be placed on a tripod. It is made to be used handheld.

An excellent product - light and solid as a rock. This bracket can be folded up to take up minimal space in the camera bag.

There are numerous attachments available to make it suitable for many specialized uses, from Macro photography to shooting from a blind.

It is expensive, but is highly recommended.

Will use this for bird photography with a flash. Very configurable with my Wimberley head. I liked my Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head have used for 1 year now) that I figured the flash bracket would be great also. Has not disappointed me.

I bought this bracket for telephoto flash bird photography. A major I chose this particular item is that the piece that attaches to the lens foot of my telephoto(s) is reversible, that is, it can be mounted with the Arca-type clamp jaws facing up or down, which makes it fit onto just about any lens foot. The build quality is up to the usual high Wimberley standards. Yes, it is expensive, but it's an item that will last longer than I will, most likely :-). It's also nice to buy gear that is made in the U.S.A., at least sometimes.

I have the other model which fits the WH-200 gimbal head.

But after I upgraded my gimbal head to the gitzo fluid head I had to order this because the old bracket is not compatible with gitzo head.

This is a great tool regardless of its price.

I highly recommend to order the extension arm for it to increase the height of the flash to avoid any weird reflection on birds or animals eyes..

Bought it so I could get a real modular and adaptable flash bracket. Combined with other components, it does what no other bracket do, from macro to portrait to flash flip to long lenses remote and whether hand held or tripod mounted. It is a bit pricey but it has unsurpassed fit quality and crafstmanship.

Lets me add fill light for birds perching in shade at some distance with an RF 100-500, EOS R6 II and 430 EXIII RT. Using the Canon ST-E10 saves the bulk, expense and inconvenience of a hot shoe cable. I'm happy to get the Speedlite off the hotshoe with only a net gain of 11 ounces to my rig. And since the Speedlite is centered, balancing the rig on the ball head is no problem. Thank you B&H for your quick response to my question if the F-1 was compatible with this rig. It is in spades.
