Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it 5V 3A total? or per port?

A: The C2G 7-Port USB 2.0 Hub includes a 5V 3A power supply to power the entire hub.

Q: 2. Will it work with Epson Sure Color P400?

A: Yes, Any printer that uses USB 2.0 shall be able to connect to this printer switch. Customer also has to install the printer driver on both computers.

Q: 3. Does this use PoE (Power over Ethernet) to power the far side? Or is the power adapter on the far side only? Or two adapters? More generally: How does each device get power? (And how much power can be supplied to plugged in devices?)

A: The IOGEAR USB 2.0 4-Port BoostLinq Ethernet Kit has a power adapter for the receiver. The device is USB 2.0 and delivers 500mA @ 5vdc.

Q: 4. Is this sufficient for file transfer? Use case would be mounting external HD to NAS from across CAT6A tie lines. So I can back up NAS files without going to the basement or through the network.

A: It would not be recommended for data integrity. It is also going to be slow this is USB 2 speed.

Q: 5. Can this be used with a USB hub? In particular, a USB 3 hub on the device end? I'm only expecting USB 2.0 speeds. A competing device only worked with some USB 3.0 hubs.

A: The IOGEAR USB 2.0 BoostLinq Ethernet Extender has to be connected directly to the computer. Now as far as using it with a USB hub on the device end, it may be possible. If you are planning to use it that way, then I recommend to get a USB hub with external power.

Q: 6. Will it work with Windows 10?

A: Yes, this unit is actually OS independent (it is pure hardware, no software needed). If you are using it with a scanner, just make sure the switch is selected to each pc when you are booting up otherwise it may not work properly in the software - just a tip.

Q: 7. I want to use to extend by printer with cat 6- 35 feet with usb output? also a scanner? also a acanner with usb output

A: Yes, you can use the Intelix Full-Speed USB Extender - Transmitter and Receiver Kit to extend the USB 2.0 connection between a printer and scanner to a computer.

Q: 8. What is the input voltage of the power adapter? 110 only or 110-220v?

A: The power adapter included with the StarTech 7-Port Compact USB 2.0 Hub is 100-240v.

Q: 9. Is this an Ethernet extender or just a Cat5/6 Extender? HUGE difference between just retransmitting across CAT5 wiring and actually converting to Ethernet Frames, Only the latter would allow you to use with switches or other L2 devices in between, which is the scenario I'm trying to use it for. Not looking to run a dedicated line.

A: For what I bought it for and I believe what its designed for, is to just extend and transmit USB protocol past the recommend 6 feet. In my tests I was able to extend up to 150 ft. This is a P2P device.

Q: 10. What are the specifications for the Power Adapter? Volts and Amps (mAmps)? Thanks for your help. B.

A: Very good
