The B+W 67mm XS-Pro MRC-Nano 810 ND 3.0 Filter (10-Stop) is a neutral density filter with a 1000x filter factor that provides a 10-stop exposure reduction. Its 3.0 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By increasing your aperture or slowing your exposure time, you can control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, each glass surface includes multiple layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. The nano coating associated with XS-Pro filters provides an additional eighth layer over the MRC, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

B+W filters are constructed from SCHOTT glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features a thin brass filter ring to minimize the potential for vignetting while enhancing durability and preventing jamming. To further reduce the possibility of vignetting when this filter is in use, the filter ring's outside diameter is slightly larger than the actual thread size. This may prevent the use of some lens manufacturer bayonet hoods.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can other filters screw on to the Nano filter to stack filters?

A: Unfortunately this filter is too thin to stack any more filters on top of it.

Q: 2. Will it fit in Lee 100 and Nisi V6 filter holders?

A: Yes, they are all 2mm thick and will work with each other.

Q: 3. This is because I use it with the H & Y magnetic frame so that my filter cannot be sticked with sponge (for prevent light leakage). Do you know that this filter has sticked sponge?

A: I'm sorry but this filter does not have foam on the edges.

Q: 4. Will this filter fit into a tiffen 4x4 holder?

A: This filter is a 2mm filter. The Tiffen works with 4mm filters. This filter would be at risk of falling out.

Q: 5. Is this filter compatible with Lee Filters Foundation Kit (Standard 4x4") B&H # LEFK ?

A: Yes, this filter will fit with the Lee Filter Foundation Kit.

Q: 6. What type of lens cap to use for the B+W 82mm XS-Pro Digital ND Vario MRC nano Filter ?

A: I am using the Slip-over cover which came with the Filter, however it is very annoying, since it falls off all the time. Please let me know if there is a suitable cover, which is held secure.

Q: 7. Hello. I purchased this filter but I am having difficulty working out the stop values for each dotted marker increment on the outside ring? I assume the first dot is 1 stop and last dot is 5 stops. If you divide the rest by 1/3 stop or 1/2 stop, then it does not work out mathematically. Any tips or manuals for this lens?

A: Unfortunately, this is typical of most variable neutral density filters across the spectrum. The markings between the minimum and maximum do not accurately indicate a precise number of stops, and even brands than mark them with ND factors miss the mark significantly; some brands are off by 1/3~2/3 stops with engraved filter factors. While I am not familiar with the physics and/or engineering reason for this, a commonly accepted technique is to adjust the camera settings first and then dial in the VND filter factor. This might be hard/impractical with longer shutter speeds though, so preemptive testing might be necessary.

Q: 8. Can additional filters be added on top of the Nano 810 to stack filters?

A: There is a 67mm front thread on this filter, so you can stack filters as needed. However, there is a risk of vignetting as you add more than one filter.

Q: 9. Can I use a this filter for a Canon 24-105mm and Sigma 18-35mm lens?

A: Yes, but you need one more part to make it fit. You'll need what's called a step-up ring. Your Canon lens is a 77mm filter thread size and you need a step-up ring (super cheap to buy) that spans the difference (a 77mm to 82mm ring). Same for Sigma - need to find a 72-82mm step-up ring or you may have to buy two, a 72-77mm and a 77-82mm. You can shop for them here.

Q: 10. Is this filter compatible with the nisi 100mm v5 system?

A: Yes. The B+W 100 x 100mm XS-Pro MRC-Nano 803 Solid Neutral Density 0.9 Filter (3-Stop), B&H # BW803440, is a 100 x 100mm / 4 x 4 filter that is 2mm thick. The B+W 100 x 100mm XS-Pro MRC-Nano 803 Solid Neutral Density 0.9 Filter (3-Stop) would be compatible for use in the NiSi V5 Pro 100mm Filter Holder Kit.

Long-time user of B+W filters. Worth every penny because they’re optically excellent! (Doesn’t make sense to put cheap glass over a thousand-dollar lens.) And I prefer the brass threads over the aluminum construction of other brands, and often more-expensive brands. I still have every B+W filter I ever bought, going back years! So I see this as a lifetime investment.

I bought this filter for waterfall effects with my EOS R5, and wasn’t sure which density to get. Fortunately, this one, (a number 6), was perfect for that. (Lucky guess.)

I have a B+W variable density filter that I’ve owned for years. It works perfectly on my DSLRs, so why buy a single-density filter, right? Because on my mirrorless cameras, which have electronic viewfinders, the EVFs seem to keep compensating the brightness, so it’s a little wonky to work with. (I’m sure there’s a workaround, but it’s just simpler for me to slap on a single-density filter.) Yes, I highly recommend this product!

I could be wrong, but I think B&W makes some of the finest filters. They are made in Germany and I believe you get what you pay for. Really can't see putting a $20 filter on a $2000+ lens.

Does the job.

I love my B&W 10 stop ND filter. I love long exposure photography and it helps makeing it easier during the daytime.

I bought this to do ICM photography, and it works great. Also good for toning down bright situations and allows me to open the aperture wider. There are other cheaper 6-stop filters out there, but they may not have multi-coatings on them. I can always trust B+W, and they have been my go-to brand for many years.

I bought this B+W 3-stop ND filter for using when shooting outside on bright, sunny days. It allows me to use the faster apertures that I couldn't before. I shoot mostly ISO 100 B/W film using cameras that have 1/1000 as their fastest speed. Now I have access to shutter speed and aperture combinations that are more to my liking.

The quality of the B+W filters keeps me loyal to the brand. I also like the pouch that came with these filters. It takes up less space in my small bag than a hard box does.

I bought this filter used from BHPhoto.

I've used the old and cheaper uncoated B+W 110 ND 3.0 for years, and just accepted the magenta tint that came with it.

Now that I needed a 39mm filter thread, I decided to buy the MRC Nano Master 810 ND 3.0 and it's simply in another league.

No horrible magenta tint. The filter renders slightly cool, which is hardly noticeable. Also, tiny amount of magenta tint, but this is nitpicking.

I couldn't be happier. Absolutely worth it.

This filter will live on my Canon RF 28-70 F2 lens when shooting on a sunny day! Without it I could not shoot wide open even at 1/8000th a second! No issues with color cast or stacking other filters. I have used it stacked with the 6 stop ND filter (same brand) and the
PolarPro 95mm QuartzLine CPL and am happy to report you can still install the lens hood with all 3 stacked!

This 6 stop filter allows me to take the wide open aperture shots I want to take on bright, sunny beach days with the Canon RF 28-70 F2 lens. It does not cause any noticeable color shift or distortion at any focal range or any any aperture setting. I am very happy with this high-end filter.
