Recording management can be controlled by the Bosch VRM (Video Recording Manager) or the camera can use iSCSI targets directly without any recording software.

Insert a memory card into the card slot to store up to 2TB of local alarm recording. Pre-alarm recording in RAM reduces bandwidth on the network and extends the effective life of the memory card.

A surge-protected analog video output allows full hybrid operation. This means that high resolution IP video streaming and an analog video output are available simultaneously. The hybrid functionality offers an easy migration path from legacy CCTV to a modern IP-based system.

The Intelligence-at-the-Edge concept now features simple calibration, false alarm reduction, and extended range identification. Mission critical video analytics detect, track, and analyze objects, and alerts you when predefined alarms are triggered. A smart set of alarm rules, together with object filters and tracking modes, simplifies complex tasks. The system is also able to reduce false alarms, for example from foliage or shaking objects, even in harsh weather conditions. Metadata is attached to your video to add sense and structure. This enables you to quickly retrieve the relevant images from hours of stored video. Metadata can also be used to deliver forensic evidence or to optimize business processes based on people counting or crowd density information. Calibration requires only that you enter the height of the camera. The internal gyro/accelerometer sensor provides the rest of the information to precisely calibrate video analytics.

The multi-streaming feature delivers various H.264 streams together with an MJPEG stream. These streams facilitate bandwidth-efficient viewing and recording, as well as integration with third-party video management systems.

Three-level password protection with security recommendations allows users to customize device access. Web browser access can be protected using HTTPS, and firmware updates can also be protected with authenticated secure uploads. The on-board Trusted Platform Module (TPM) and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) support provide protection from malicious attacks. The 802.1x network authentication with EAP/TLS, supports TLS 1.2 with updated cipher suites, including AES 256 encryption. The advanced certificate handling offers self-signed unique certificates automatically created when required, client and server certificates for authentication, client certificates for proof of authenticity, and certificates with encrypted private keys.

There are many ways to access the camera's features: using a web browser, with the Bosch Video Management System, with the free-of-charge Bosch Video Client or Video Security Client, with the video security mobile app, or via third-party software.

The camera conforms to ONVIF Profile specifications. Compliance with these standards guarantees interoperability between network video products, regardless of manufacturer.

Q: 6. I have this camera installed over Lake Ontario for Sky events like meteors/fireballs and Aurora borealis events. However, I have found lately it's not picking up the lights or rays at night too well like it once did. Am I using the right kind of camera or are there ways I can change the ISO or White Balance settings on it somehow? It was professionally installed and I can't get them back to fix it as they don't even know what I am talking about. They are security installation people not videographers or photographers. Can I change these settings myself? And if so, how? I thank everyone who took their time reading and answering my question! It means a lot to me!

I have taken the unit on two hunts - so far - it has performed flawlessly. The image is clear. I have also done some daytime hunting with this since it has cooled off and once again it has performed flawlessly. I would recommend it to anyone. The only issue I have encountered is downloading the firmware update. I was able, evidently, to get the update onto the micro SD card. When it was reinstalled into the scope (closely following the directions) the upload function prompt never happened. It works great without the upgrade though!

I have been using night vision devices for many years now so I decided to upgrade to a thermal device. Well I finally saved up and purchased the ATN ThOR 640 4x-40x and it has changed the way we hunt predators. The reliability and features on this scope are amazing from taking pictures and videos to the smart range finder, and being able to store different setups in the scope allowing it to be moved to different rifles. The best part of this scope is not on the scope itself, but with customer service. You have a customer for life.

Well I haven’t really have time to use the scope or set it up yet.

When ordered the scope, it never arrived with in the said time. The next day I received a call from Matt at ATN, apologizing for the delay and that the ran out of stock but assured me when it comes available that it would ship immediately. Sure enough 3 days later I got a confirmation email, 2 days later at their expense I received it.

When I get to use it I will review it again

During my old good days in the army I could only dream about using thermal vision at such distances. On a clear night it can distinguish a human or a big animal almost a mile away! I had to buy a more powerful rangefinder to measure. When I bought this thermal, I was not sure if I would heavily use it, so I chose a 384 lens as a more budget friendly option. But now I've got so addicted to it!
