Elevate your skills to the next level by learning Stanislavsky's classic method approach in The Art of Film Acting: A Guide For Actors and Directors, a Focal Press book by Jeremiah Comey. The 304-page volume applies Stanislavsky's famous stage acting philosophy to the medium of film and television, training you to express emotions openly and honestly and to respond to your fellow actors believably. The end result is that you will be experiencing feelings truthfully, rather than simply indicating them. The lessons herein are applicable to cold reading, auditioning, and actually performing in a film or TV show. Comey maintains that the key to a successful performance lies in the way the actors relate to one another and to the circumstances. Exercises, including script examples, throughout the book provide an accessible resource for practicing the principles explained.

Q: 8. Good for info on shooting flat and MLUTS? I'm looking at this book and Doug Jensen's Master Class on Vimeo. I'm basically trying to figure out which one to buy as I don't need or want both. I'd rather buy the less expensive book if it has the info I need. What I'm really looking for is some clarification on Cine EI and S-Log and it's function, MLUTs and Look Profiles and scene files and how they operate. I've been working with Sony cameras for a long time. Most of the operation is all very familiar to me, but I'm new to shooting flat and I don't really understand how one thing affects another when it comes to MLUTS and s-log, etc. Any help in making a decision would be greatly appreciated.

A: Hey Brad,Basically I was in the same boat as you, I know Sony cameras inside and out but was new to a camera that shot s-log and had the ability to show a client an MLUT on a monitor so they weren't looking at a flat, unflattering and washed out image that no matter how much you tell them won't look like that when you've finished adding a LUT. Dougs book is great especially when you are out in the field and you need a quick refresher, something you can't do with the video presentation that he also has. I also like the fact that at the end of each chapter Doug, gives his own personal recommendations which really do help. He really is able to break down the camera within each chapter and write it in a way that you automatically understand. Lastly Brad, this FS7 camera comes with way more menu options than even I thought it did and Doug breaks down what every single thing means. He also let's you know how many mbps each shooting style records at. I would definitely recommend this book to you or a friend. Good luck and enjoy the camera, I bloody love it!

Q: 9. Does the Stearman Press work for direct positive paper?

A: Yes it can be used for paper developing too. But paper developing is generally recommended to be done in the darkroom under a red light so you can watch the image appear before putting it into a stop bath. Paper developing times are very short (1 minute or so) while film often takes 7-8 minutes or more.

Q: 10. Is this book the second edition that covers v.2 update for the camera?

A: As far as I know, there is not updated version, just like his series of FS7 instructional videos on YouTube, he say there may be minor updates from Sony, however the basics are still in effect. You can write to Doug himself by googling his address via Vortex Media.

I have three sets of these, got them at NAB three years ago. Met the owner of the company. Very helpful
Great for GoPro and light rigs. The track is great- add sections- great build quality
Wish they would make a heavier system for a Sony mirrorless and big lens set up! JR

High quality monitor. Solid built, excellent image quality. Product you can rely on to work accurately every time.
Super bright for outdoors so you can see your shots clearly in direct sunlight.
Absolutely worth the cost.

I was looking for a second-camera slider for some video interviews I'll be doing on a ship. I ordered and returned an iFootage Shark Slider Nano because the battery wouldn't charge. I then did the same with a Smartta SliderMini 2 because the Android app was no longer available when it arrived. This is the cheapest, lightest, and most portable option of the three. More importantly, it's the only one that actually worked on arrival. It's very smooth, very quiet, and does what I need. I'll either use it with my phone or Canon M6 MkII. Both fit nicely. It lacks panning, but I figure I can shoot in 4k and track/crop in post and get what I want.

I have owned three of these and although mostly made of plastic this packs a powerful punch in your arsenal of video storytelling tools. Easy to use and 3 unique uses dolly, truck and 360, it’s small, compact and much cheaper than the more expensive options.

The Movie Maker 2 is a great little motorized slider for the price.  We use it with a GoPro to get into those small places a normal camera, motion control unit and slider cannot.  Weve put it in trees, on roofs, etc.  It has different speeds if youre looking to do cool timelapses or moves.  Its very simple to use.  It does obviously have its limitations, but Again, I repeat, its a great unit for the price!

This product works as described and is very reliable. I purchased additional tracks to allow for longer timelapse/ extended sweeps and they work great! Would highly recommend to anyone who wants a quick and portable setup with high quality results. I dont usually write reviews, but this one is worth the time. Thanks B&H and Grip Gear!

This is my first slider. I bought this set primarily because of the price. Because the cost of a professional slider is at least 2 times more. Also for this price, in addition to the slider, you get a dolly and 360 rotating head. If you use a phone or a small compact camera, you can try it all right out of the box. The plastic mortars fit quite well and have almost no play. But I was going to use it with my Canon 5D camera. I know this kit is not designed for large cameras, but the main parts are very sturdy and can be used with a little modification. Plastic legs that bend a lot can be replaced with metal ones. Cheap ball head for a stronger one. And your kit will be ready to work with large cameras. The movement is very smooth, there is almost no vibration. The speed is enough. What else do you need for videography? I think this is a very good purchase!
