Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this paper use the Photo Black or Matte Black cart in the P600/P800?

A: The Epson Legacy Fibre Paper (8.5 x 11", 25 Sheets) uses a smooth matte black.

Q: 2. Compatible with Canon Pixma printers? Moab has no ICC color profile for Canon Pixma. How do prints look using Pixma default printer settings?

A: Yes the Moab papers are compatible and they have ICC profiles that are downloadable from their website.

Q: 3. Is the finish completely smooth or is there a texture or stipple pattern? Canson's Infinity Baryta is almost completely smooth which makes the paper look like RC paper.

A: Slight texture and it very much has the look and feel of a traditional fiber paper ... definitely not like RC. To my eye the paper is slightly warm. It prints beautifully, both color and B&W, and has become my primary exhibition paper for my personal work.

Q: 4. Is this paper considered "archival"?

A: The Epson Exhibition Fiber Paper (17 x 22", 25 Sheets) is not listed as being acid-free archival grade paper.

Q: 5. Is this paper compatible with an Epson 9000 printer?

A: The Epson Stylus Pro 9000? Yes it would be compatible.

Q: 6. Is Epson Exhibition Fiber considered "archival"?

A: No, this Epson Exhibition Fiber Paper (17 x 22", 25 Sheets) is not archival (acid free).

Q: 7. Canon Pixma printer compatiblity? No ICC profile available from Moab. How do prints look with Pixma?

A: PIXMA represents a large line of different printers from Canon. For best results, choose a profile that's closest to the type of paper you're using. With the Moab Entrada Rag Bright 190 Paper (4 x 6", 50 Sheets) (B&H# MOEB1904650) cotton rag you may wish to choose a profile for the Canon Premium Fine Art Smooth Paper (17 x 22", 25 Sheets) (B&H# CA1711C005): https://bhpho.to/3yfmr8J

Q: 8. Hello Can I paint with watercolours on the Fabriano rag paper ? It is a good surface to paint on it? Sabrina Garrasi, a watercolour artist, told me that the paper she uses in her paintings is Fabriano rag paper. I am not sure what paper is she referring to. Could you clarify this for me ? Thank you very much Raquel

A: To create traditional watercolour paintings you will need to use the original Fabriano watercolour paper. I would think that most arts and craft stores will stock this paper but I believe you can find a list of distributors on the Fabriano website: https://www.fabriano.com The Fabriano papers in the Innova Editions range are coated for inkjet printing so would not be suitable for watercolour painting. However, they may be something to look at again if your customer decides to sell print editions of any of their watercolours: the Innova Editions Fabriano papers share the same base as the original Fabriano papers for traditional watercolour work. This makes them a good option for inkjet reproductions of traditional watercolours originally painted on Fabriano surfaces.

Q: 9. Can this paper be used in a Canon Pixma Pro 9000 Mark ii printer?

A: Your printer specs show handling paper to 1.2 thickness and the Moab description on this paper lists .41 so you should be fine. I have an Epson printer, but I looked up specs on your printer. Be sure to use the proper icc profile. If Moab offers one for your printer that is a further indication there should be no issues in your use of it.

Q: 10. Is the paper grain parallel to the short side or the long side? Apparently the label is marked GS if it is short grain.

A: There is no way we can know in advance what batch we'll get from Moab, but yes if it has a GS it will mean 'short grain'. Moab cuts the paper from a roll & it depends how they slice it up. Although the paper is smooth people that want to fold the paper (i.e. for cards) would be very specific in the grain direction so the paper folds smoothly.
