Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this paper need a UV Spray Protector after printing to set the dye ink (not pigment) and keep it from smudging?

A: Moab Entrada Rag Bright 190 Paper (4 x 6", 50 Sheets) (B&H# MOEB1904650) doe not require the addition of a UV spray protectant in order to set normal inkjet dye ink. Just be sure to let the ink dry before handling.

Q: 2. Is the finish completely smooth or is there a texture or stipple pattern? Canson's Infinity Baryta is almost completely smooth which makes the paper look like RC paper.

A: Slight texture and it very much has the look and feel of a traditional fiber paper ... definitely not like RC. To my eye the paper is slightly warm. It prints beautifully, both color and B&W, and has become my primary exhibition paper for my personal work.

Q: 3. how about the P600?

A: Yes, this paper would work with the Epson P600 printer.

Q: 4. does this paper compatible with Epson R3000 printer?

A: Not sure, but works well with the Pro-3800

Q: 5. Is this good for printing on epson p 800?I am not sure which canvas to buy to print my photographs as there are so many types. Please advice

A: Great canvas. Make sure to download the Paper profile from Epson for your printer. Then load the profile. Print a test strip. Then print your photos. Make sure to also use a special top coat on the canvas for protection. B&H has the top coat that you can purchase. Also very important, read the instructions sheet that comes with the canvas.

Q: 6. Does the 13x19 sheet size run short grain or long grain?

A: For the most part all the 13x19 Entrada is converted Grain Short as this produces the best yields from the jumbo rolls. Embedded in the lot # stamp of each Moab box are the letters GL (Grain Long) or GS (Grain Short)

Q: 7. Can this paper be used with an Epson R2880 printer?

A: Yes. I have done so. Very good.

Q: 8. Can this paper be used in a Canon Pixma Pro 9000 Mark ii printer?

A: Your printer specs show handling paper to 1.2 thickness and the Moab description on this paper lists .41 so you should be fine. I have an Epson printer, but I looked up specs on your printer. Be sure to use the proper icc profile. If Moab offers one for your printer that is a further indication there should be no issues in your use of it.

Q: 9. Where can I find IIC profiles for this paper and a Epson 3880?

A: Try the Pixel Genius website. I just downloaded the free profile. Since I am not allowed to put the link here, search on Pixel Genius Epson Exhibition Fiber.

Q: 10. Is the paper grain parallel to the short side or the long side? Apparently the label is marked GS if it is short grain.

A: There is no way we can know in advance what batch we'll get from Moab, but yes if it has a GS it will mean 'short grain'. Moab cuts the paper from a roll & it depends how they slice it up. Although the paper is smooth people that want to fold the paper (i.e. for cards) would be very specific in the grain direction so the paper folds smoothly.

This paper helps my black & white printing using both the P800 & 3880 (the same as with the Platine paper also recently reviewed) really stand out. I find it considerably superior to the Somerset Velvet, for example. I have yet to compare it to the new Epson Exhibition Watercolor Paper Textured with color prints but I anticipate good results.

I avoided trying this paper until very recently. I was very happy with Epson Hot Press Natural and didn't like the price of the Legacy Etching. But I wanted to test other papers and bought a box. It's now my favorite paper. I currently print with an Epson 7890 and using the Epson profile, the edge goes to Etching. The differences are subtle, primarily in the shadow detail, but it's enough to warrant the price difference, to me.

The Epson Legacy Etching is perfect for a new portfolio of artworks we are developing. The colors using HD inks and the stipple of the surface plus the great weight provide exceptional prints for us!!

This paper is well worth the investment because of the quality of the print and the longevity of the print. Printing on the Epson P800 the colors are dramatic and the blacks are clean and deep. It is made in France by a company that has 100's of years of experience of printing fine art papers.

I have used many different fine art papers including most of what EPSON offers. This etching paper is as close to a perfect paper as I’ve seen. Whether printing color or black and white, big or small the results are consistently outstanding. Seems to give me the color and tones I’m looking for out of a matte paper. This paper pairs well with my P800 and EPSON inks and is the only matte paper I will be using fo a while.

I am a big fan of Epson's Signature Worthy photographic papers, but my main gripe would be the variability in the reproduction of the image. What looks great (and matches my monitor) on Cold Press Bright (CPB) and Exhibition Fiber Paper (EFP) may look more washed out in, say, the Cold Press or Hot Press Natural papers. Consequently, if I really want to use one of the latter papers, I then have to make pre-printing adjustments to my image, which involves a certain amount of guesswork. Since this I refuse to do, I decided a long time ago that i would ONLY use CPB for my matte paper and EFP for my luster paper. Curious about the new Legacy line, however, I ordered the sample pack and printed the same image, without any editing adjustments, on all four papers. Lo and behold, there was very little variability in the prints even though Legacy Etching and Legacy Baryta are more natural whites. In other words, no more worries about washed-out prints like I had with the Cold/Hot Press Natural papers! This gives me more printing options with predictable results, so Legacy Etching and Legacy Baryta are now my matte and luster papers of choice when a natural white is more harmonious with my image. While pricier than the Signature Worthy line, there are just those times when a natural white goes better with a given image than the bright white of CPB/EFP. Plus, the cream-colored mats that I use - vivid white being my other regular mat color - look wonderful with the Legacy Etching/Baryta papers.
