Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I use a Canon Pro 100 printer. Is this paper too heavy to pass through that printer?? Or, how do I get the printer to accept 85# paper?

A: This paper will work with a Canon PIXMA Pro 100. Please refer to your printer's user manual for all paper handling specifications.

Q: 2. I would use this paper with an Epson printer. I understand that I should use the matte black instead of the photo black pigment ink. Is that correct?

A: To use an Epson printer with this Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique II (8.5 x 11", 25 Sheets), follow the steps on Canson's ICC Profiles & printer color calibration settings: https://www.canson-infinity.com/en/icc-profiles?fp=2941

Q: 3. What is the mil of this fine art paper?

A: It is about 19mil.

Q: 4. Does this paper have a hard smooth surface or does it have a texture?

A: This paper has a smooth white surface. It is beautiful. I don't know what you mean by hard .

Q: 5. Is there a gloss (lustre) differential between the unprinted (white) areas and the printed areas? I like Museo Silver Rag because it does not exhibit this differential, but the paper is very expensive.

A: I don't remember any gloss difference; however I bought this paper for testing to replace Ilford smooth pearl after Ilford went bankrupt. My go to art paper is Canson platine. I use these mid priced luster papers for printing photo exhibits for my law practice and law firm. I assumed that the Canson paper would be OK and consistent from lot to lot. This Canson paper was better than epson luster but lacked the contrast/ pop and feel of the Ilford(310gsm instead of 270) that really seems to impress both Jurors and Judges.

Q: 6. What photo topics does this paper work best with?

A: The Canon Premium Fine Art Rough Photo paper can be used for photos that you wish to create a three-dimensional look and feel. It also emulates the look of classic paintings.

Q: 7. What's the ICC profile for this paper?

A: Adding the ICC profile for this paper can be shown by visiting this link. (it shows for MAC but the procedure is virtually the same for Windows). https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART173460&cat=CANON_IMAGEPROGRAF_PROF_INKJET&actp=LIST

Q: 8. when it says pigment or Dye ink, does that mean it works with inkjet printers?

A: Yes, Inkjet printers usually use Dye or Pigment inks. So that paper will work on most inkjet printers.

Q: 9. How is Canson Infinity Photographique II different from its predecessor Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique?

A: The Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique II is slightly thinner than the original (11.9 vs 12.2mil) but other than that they are the same.

Q: 10. Is this paper archival?

A: The Moab Juniper Baryta Rag 305 Paper features a 100% cotton fiber base and no optical brightening agents for maximum longevity. Yes, this paper is archival.

Great color gamut and great dmax for black and white. The texture is splendid.

I normally print on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag with occasional excursions with Museum Etching, both fine papers with different looks. I decided to try German Etching and am glad I did. I print exclusively monochrome using a seven varied black tone ink set. The German Etching received these inks beautifully with smooth tonal gradations and a nice pop to the prints. It may just become my standard, go to paper.
