The Matthews 299555 Fly-Away Sandbag holds up to 15 lb in sand. Sand bags come in a variety of shapes and weights. They are used for securing the bases of light stands and set walls. Many have handles, for hanging on hooks or risers. Some have two wings, to allow draping over light stand legs.
Most are cordura nylon, some are vinyl covered and waterproof.
Some models of sandbags are shipped empty, for convenience and economy. They can be filled with sand, or any type of weight you provide, and emptied for storage, or transport.

It's hard to mess up sand bags, but it does happen. These bags do what's expected of them. 5

Excellent build quality. Thick canvas, strong stitching. For the price, these are a steal. For the independent filmmaker with a super small crew of 3-4 people these are easier to carry around all day and perfect to hold down tripods and stands in the wind. Mathews 15 LB bags can live in the car and still be accessed. 5

What can you say about sand. It weights 5 pounds. Comes in a nice black canvas style bag that has a divider sewn in so that you can hang it across a thin bar. And perhaps most importantly ... does not leak sand. 5

I bought this saddle sandbag for my C-stands to keep my strobes from falling over. This sandbag is pretty sturdy and doesn't sag like other brands, leaving all the weight on the ground instead of on the stand. I like the heavy duty handle too, making it much easier to carry; unlike the Impact 25lb sandbag that just has a strap. 5

Great quality, but be advised they haven't updated the pic on B&H and the handle is different than the one shown in the photo. The handle is much more broad and open across the entire top. Not too big a deal. Quality is of course as you'd expect from Matthews. 5
