Designed for Micro Four Thirds-mount mirrorless cameras, this 20mm f/1.8 ED AS UMC Lens from Rokinon is a bright wide-angle prime featuring an intuitive manual focus design and enhanced optical construction. Two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements are used to reduce both spherical and chromatic aberrations for greater sharpness, clarity, and reduced distortion. The optics also feature an Ultra Multi-Coating to guard against lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions. The manual focus operation affords working with subjects as close as 7.9" away, and a rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

A wide-angle prime designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras, this 20mm f/1.8 lens provides a 40mm equivalent focal length.

Bright f/1.8 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions and also affords greater control over depth of field for selective focus control.

Two aspherical elements are used to reduce spherical aberrations for increased sharpness and minimized distortion.

Three extra-low dispersion elements help to control chromatic aberrations and color fringing for improved clarity and color fidelity.

An Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to individual elements in order to reduce flare and ghosting for increased contrast and a neutral color balance.

Manual focus operation allows for precise control with a minimum focusing distance of 7.9".

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is the lense hood removable?

A: The sun shade is not removable.

Q: 2. Can the lens be used to take milky way photos with Nikon D3300?

A: Since I purchased this lens, I loaned it to my granddaughter who was traveling to Iceland. I haven't seen her photos yet, but I am sure she used it for wide angle shots with a D5200. I don't know about the Milky Way though, I think you would need a fairly long shutter opening.

Q: 3. Is this lens $60 better than the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC - BH #SA1428NAE?

A: These lenses are very similar in quality. However, the Rokinon one does have a AE chip there that better helps with auto-focus, auto metering, and auto exposure.

Q: 4. Can I adjust the aperture through my camera or do I have to manually adjust that on the lens?

A: You will need to control the aperture manually through the ring on the lens.

Q: 5. The description says it is compatible with both APS-C and Full Frame, but I am just wondering if this would be a true 14mm on a APS-C, or if it would be more? I shoot with a D7100. Thank You.

A: Since the lens is a Fx lens, when used on an APS-C sensor you'll have the 1.5 crop. 14mm * 1.5 = 21mm.

Q: 6. Hi, the Aperture Display F-- is not available when I used this lens on a Sony A7. Is this normal? Is there a way to adjust the aperture on the camera? Thanks in advance.

A: Yes this is normal for this lens, as there is no electronics and it is purely mechanical. The camera simply has no way of knowing what kind of lens is attached without having the electrical contacts in use. The only method of aperture adjustment is with the aperture ring. This is one of the reasons this lens is so cheap. Hope this helps!

Q: 7. which lens would be better for night shots, this one or the 24mm f/1.4?

A: Depends -- if you're shooting the milky way use the 14mm for people the 24 mm is probably better. Depends on your body as well

Q: 8. Is this compatible with a Nikon D7200?

A: Of course. It is compatible with all nikon cameras. It is manual focus though, but for landscape and stars in particular (which this lens is geared towards), it is preferred. The glass is also sharper than the nikkor 14-24mm @ 14mm. It's a great bang for buck lens you will use even with a full frame. However, for apc and stars, a lot of people really like the tokina 11-something lens too.

Q: 9. will this work for canon 5d mark iii?

A: Yup absolutely! This is EF mount which is the mount that the 5D MKIII uses.

Q: 10. Does this lens work on the EOS R with the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R?

A: Yes , fully manual , focus and aperture

I would love it if this lens was auto-focus, but I'm glad to have the opportunity to have such a great lens for such a low price. Solid, sharp, silky smooth.

I will save you the pictures and such and state that this lens does represent its reviews around the net very well. Sharp, well made and a very comfortable 190 degree focus ring. For its price, it just might be the best lens at price per construction of all lenses. I will say though, check your centering on arrival, some have had apparent bad luck with centering problems.

I bought this lens for shooting landscapes, mountains, the
night sky, flowers, birds (mainly at a feeder), and other objects that don’t
move too much. It is manual focusing. That requires some experience, but makes
it possible to obtain the sharpest possible focus and place it exactly where one
wants it. Since it is designed for full-frame, it performs extremely well all
the way out to the edges on the APS-C sensor of my Sony a6300 camera. On photos
of star fields, optical aberrations are hardly detectable and the fall-off is remarkably
small, even at the full aperture of f/2.

Such optical quality comes with significant weight of the
glass, but I found the lens quite comfortable for hand-held shooting. For using
a tripod at night, the tripod mount of the small a6300 body would be stressed
too much. I solved this problem by buying the Pentax K version instead of Sony
E. That allowed me to include an adapter with a tripod mount (from GOBE). The
lower cost of the Pentax version even helped paying for the adapter.

I use this mostly for landscape and nature photography, and would highly recommend this lens. I have my camera on a tripod for 90% of my shots so the manual focus is not an issue, in fact I love the manual focus with the live view on my Pentax K1. Sharpness is fantastic!

First, you have to check that you have a well adjusted focus ring. Some have complained that their rings are loose. Thankfully, that was not a problem with my lens. (For the Rokinon 8mm, Ken Rockwell has a link for how to adjust the focus ring yourself.) Assuming your lens is calibrated OK, this lens delivers a rounder and creamier bokeh than the Canon 24mm 1.4L, which costs 1600 dollars. The out-of-focus areas of the Canon lens give squiggly bokeh, as well as odd distortion in the corners. Mind you, this is when shooting at the minimum focal distance where the distortions are most pronounced. But the Rokinon performs the same task with astonishing accuracy. This lens is built tough, and the photos are beautiful. At the wider focal length, I found it much more forgiving than the Rokinon 35mm 1.4, which is an excellent lens, but it is much more demanding with a depth of field of literally fractions of an inch. I found that I can use this 24 in candid shots much more easily, even when wide open. I started shooting photos with this lens even before I left B and H. I posted these photos in a video review on Amzn, which you can check out over there.

I love the Rokinon 24mm F1.4 lens. I use it on my Nikon Z6 ii camera body with the Ftz ii adapter. It communicates with my camera. I can change aperture in camera instead of changing aperture with the ring on lens. My pictures are sharp when stopping down to F2 thru F22. I had to place camera on tripod to get sharp pictures when shooting at F1.4,but I am 66 yrs. old.

Although heavy and without auto focus I love this lens. On my XT2 it is around 200mm. If you can hold this beast steady or have a tri-pod it is capable of getting spectacular images. The XT2's focus assist should help. I did not buy this lens for sports or action photography so I'm fully satisfied

For the first 3 days of receiving this lens, I was Just shooting around the house of my children and doing some nature shots near my home, I was amazed at the sharpness, color and contrast all done wide open at f2. So sharp, I can see my reflection in my children's at 7 feet. I added some extension tubes for some macro shots and I was so amazed at the level of detail. The bokeh is amazing, creamy smooth... but the bokeh balls weren't perfectly round, however still beautiful. I could really see the pollens.
