The 6TB 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal SC Midline 512e Hard Drive from HP is designed for reliability and mass storage required by today's non-mission-critical application server and storage environments. Additionally, Advanced Format 512e means it is intended for servers and storage solutions that are 4K aligned. This drive has a capacity of 6TB, a rotational speed of 7200 rpm, a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, and a 3.5" form factor. It comes installed in a Hot Plug SmartDrive carrier, which helps to enable a more balanced system architecture for unified storage, improved performance, and greater reliability. HP SmartDrive is also able to handle larger amounts of data, reduce overall initialization times, and protect against multi-day outages and data loss.

HP SmartDrive is compatible with Gen8 and Gen9 HPE ProLiant Servers, and maintains backward compatibility with existing standard hot plug carriers to provide support for HPE ProLiant G7 and earlier servers and storage enclosures. This SATA drive is protected by a limited 1-year warranty, regardless of the warranty period for the system in which it is installed.

The Advanced Format 512e is designed for 4KiB aligned operating systems and applications. They also support legacy 512K native applications.

HPE Smart Carrier for HPE ProLiant Servers (both Gen8 and Gen9 are supported). They maintain backward compatibility with existing standard hot-plug carriers to provide support for HPE ProLiant G7 and earlier servers and server storage enclosures.

When used in conjunction with a SMART Array Controller and Systems Insight Manager, the SMART-capable firmware in HPE hard drives enables extensive fault prediction capabilities. If potential problems develop in one of the drives, the Smart Array Controller, Systems Insight Manager, and/or SMART hard disk drive lets you know in advance, so you can have the drive replaced, before it fails, under warranty.

A: Yes it will fit inside a cheese crater mac pro.There's a catch though. Due to the OS, you have to first format this 10TB drive in an external enclosure with USB/FW800. After that, then you put it inside the computer.If you format it straight as internal drive, you won't get 10TB of storage, only about 3.8TB. It's a mac thing.

We've been using the Purple WD hard drives for several years on our surveillance cameras. The have worked flawlessly. The price is reasonable and it's a snap to install and initialize. 5

This is my 2nd one of these drives. I use them for Super Duper bootable backups of my IMac internal hard drive, as a fail safe for Time Machine. I use them with an external drive sled connected via USB 3. Seem to work well, and get very little wear as they are only turned on when a backup is made. 5

This HDD is quiet, fast(for a spinning platter drive) and has allowed me to accommodate my ever growing library of photos. I reside in Australia and decided to purchase this drive from B&H for several reasons: - it was about $100 cheaper even accounting for the exchange rate and postage than purchasing it in Australia! - WD offered me the same 5 year warranty by purchasing it from the US as I would ve got from buying in Australia and I got the exceptional customer service and quick delivery that has been the hallmark of B&H for a long time! Additionally, I might add - I was initially concerned about purchasing a platter HDD from overseas and having the possibility of it being damaged in transit due to its delicate nature. My fears were allayed by the reassurance I received from B&H about it being covered by their warranty should that happen and when it did arrive it was very securely packed such that the likelihood of that occurring was very slim! Put it through a 24hr butterfly test & then filled it with data. Runs at a temperature Id expect; Did not get excessively hot when working it. 5
