The 6TB 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal SC Midline Hard Drive from HP is designed for reliability and mass storage required by today's non-mission-critical application server and storage environments. This drive has a capacity of 6TB, a rotational speed of 7200 rpm, a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, and a 3.5" form factor. It comes installed in a Hot Plug SmartDrive carrier, which helps to enable a more balanced system architecture for unified storage, improved performance, and greater reliability. HP SmartDrive is also able to handle larger amounts of data, reduce overall initialization times, and protect against multi-day outages and data loss.

HP SmartDrive is compatible with Gen8 and Gen9 HPE ProLiant Servers, and maintains backward compatibility with existing standard hot plug carriers to provide support for HPE ProLiant G7 and earlier servers and storage enclosures. This SATA drive is protected by a limited 1-year warranty, regardless of the warranty period for the system in which it is installed.

Q: 7. Will this ST10000NM0016 Seagate 10TB 7.2K 6Gbps 3.5 SATA Hard Drive fit on Mac Pro Mid 2010?

A: Yes it will fit inside a cheese crater mac pro.There's a catch though. Due to the OS, you have to first format this 10TB drive in an external enclosure with USB/FW800. After that, then you put it inside the computer.If you format it straight as internal drive, you won't get 10TB of storage, only about 3.8TB. It's a mac thing.

Q: 8. The drive head in the unit I received makes very loud clicking sounds when performing read/write operations. It's much louder than the various other HDDs I have on hand. It otherwise works fine. Is this noise common for the drive?

A: The clicking sound you hear can be a sign of possible hardware failure. I would suggest to back up your data to another drive and contact the manufacturer for warranty service.

This HDD is quiet, fast(for a spinning platter drive) and has allowed me to accommodate my ever growing library of photos. I reside in Australia and decided to purchase this drive from B&H for several reasons: - it was about $100 cheaper even accounting for the exchange rate and postage than purchasing it in Australia! - WD offered me the same 5 year warranty by purchasing it from the US as I would ve got from buying in Australia and I got the exceptional customer service and quick delivery that has been the hallmark of B&H for a long time! Additionally, I might add - I was initially concerned about purchasing a platter HDD from overseas and having the possibility of it being damaged in transit due to its delicate nature. My fears were allayed by the reassurance I received from B&H about it being covered by their warranty should that happen and when it did arrive it was very securely packed such that the likelihood of that occurring was very slim!
