The GM4562 Series 4 Monopod from Gitzo is a 6-section, lightweight carbon fiber support designed to be the most compact and travel friendly monopod within Gitzo's line up. Utilizing Gitzo's patented G-Lock Ultras, the GM4562 has the ability to support up to an impressive 77.2 lb while weighing just 1.5 lb.

Reaching a maximum height of 60.6", the GM4562 is suitable as a general use monopod ideal for nearly any situation. Its true advantage lies within its 6-section design, which allows the monopod to collapse down to an easily packed 17.3" in length. As all Gitzo monopods, it features a reversible 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounting thread for adding an optional head if more height or articulation is needed.

Maintaining Gitzo's reputation for strength, the GM4562 utilizes 6X Carbon eXact tubing and patented G-Lock Ultra designs to ensure professional performance without the bulk. The 6-layer carbon weave allows the monopod to maintain maximum strength while keeping weight to an absolute minimum, while the G-Lock Ultras also add to the tubing's strength by providing a rigid connection between leg sections and protecting the joints from dust, dirt, and moisture.

At the monopod's base is a redesigned rubber foot that features a pivoting ball-joint for smooth tilts and twists. Users may also remove the foot if necessary and replace it with optional rubber feet or an optional metal spike. The GM4562 also features Gitzo's standard textured hand grip for enhanced ergonomics and a removable wrist strap for increased security.

A: I bought this monopod to use on an upcoming trip to Alaska. There will be times when we will be on a train or a bus, and I felt that this monopod would be easier to have with me. I love Gitzo - I have a Gitzo tripod that I use all of the time. I have experimented with the monopod at home with ways to hold it against my body for extra stability. You could also use some object for more stability - a tree, building, fence, etc. My tripod will be in my luggage and my first choice to use, but I will have the monopod on my lap for more ease of travel.

The Gitzo GM4562 Series 4 Carbon Fiber Monopod is the perfect height for me as a 5 10 person. Even though its maximum height is 62, with my ball head installed it puts my cameras viewfinder at 70. this is high enough for me to easily tilt the camera up to a 45º-60º without crouching down behind the camera when shooting into the trees. If you are taller than me I would definitely recommend purchasing the Gitzo GM4552L Series 4 Carbon Fiber Monopod with a max height of 74.8 (Closed Length: 22—Sections: 5—Weight: 1.6 lb)

I really like the 17 collapsed size of the GM4562 and even fully extended, it handles my Nikon D850 with the vertical grip and my 200-500 Nikkor lens without issue. The belt hook is also a nice feature it is plenty sturdy and easy to use. The pad foot is removable and replaceable with any foot or spike set of a 3/8 X16 size. The foot is equipped with a tension ring that allows you to pull it off the ball and clean it when necessary. The large pad foot (included) performed really well for me in dry, loose sand at the river. It stayed on the surface even with the 9 pounds of camera and lens attached. If I were using it at a saltwater beach I would attach a 4 spike foot to protect the monopod.

I bought the extra long version based upon the review by Steve Perry. It is very sturdy and is ideal for use with the Wimberley gimbal head. I took Steve’s advice and bought the extra long version so that the monopod can be tilted and used for skyward shots of flying birds.

Perfect combination of function and form.
Lightweight, yet very stable. I couldnt be happier, the collapsed length is nice and short. Easily strapped to side of any bag. Very quick friction style, locks up solid with a slight twist.

I have a Sirui but it is not nearly as sturdy as this monopod. I also have a Gitzo with 2 extensions but it is about 26 folded and not great for travel. I think this one will be great for travel. I did purchase an RRS clamp release (have them on all my monopods and tripods) and highly recommend.

I bought this monopod primarily for use when taking snowmobiling photographs because it is compact and fits in my avalanche bag. Can be used for long exposures in a pinch by stabbing it into the snow.

I use the GM4562 with my Nikon D500 with 400mmf2.8VR mounted and it is rock solid. The twist clamps are super easy to use and really do lock things up tightly, yet are quick to adjust. The foot cup is great for using in sand at the beach. I'm only 5'6 tall so the last leg is typically only 1/3 or 1/2 extended during use. Nice Gitzo quality and look.
