Q: 6. I own this lens and when it isn't attached to a powered camera, there is a distinct movement from within the lens. I assume this is because the magnets aren't powered which allows the lens elements to move. Over time (travel etc) can this movement lead to damage within the lens?

A: The quad linear motor and will always make a sound and you're right - when it's not engaged (turned OFF) it makes a knocking sound because the magnets that drive the motor are not engaged. When it's turned on the magnets are engaged and will hum a bit. That's typically how triple linear motors work but it does not affect the image quality, video sound or the camera operation.

Q: 7. Product highlights say Weather-Sealed Construction .But isn't Fujifilm WR only Weather-Resistant ?

A: The Fujifilm WR lenses are weather sealed and the lens you found is a WR lens. It is a Fujifilm XF 90mm f/2 LM WR lens.

A: Personally, I think its because they dont know what they are doing! I havent any problems with the lens. Its very versatile, sharp, and gives you the option of getting close or backing off! I like mine!

Q: 9. My original Fujifilm lens hood no longer locks in place. Not sure if it is damaged. Will this hood click lock into a 16-55 fujifilm XF lens when used, or reversed to lens?

Ive never owned a lens wider than 18mm equivalent.  This lens opens up a whole new area of creativity for me.  As with my other X series lenses, this one is built like a tank and optical performance is excellent.  Ive taken it on a couple of hiking trips and the images are stunning.  Im considering the FotodioX Wonderpana 145 Core Filter Holder and polarizer.  The one thing that took some getting used to is how the image can change substantially depending on where the horizon cuts across your scene as you change the elevation angle.  And minor ghosting occurs if you include the sun or bright lights.  Overall, Im very pleased with the lens and it rounds out my kit nicely.

This lens makes you smile. The quality you expect and more. Great for low light urban and landscape shots. Cool for those tight indoor shots as well. It's expensive but if you want a versatile lens to pair with your 16-55 you won't be disappointed

Truth is this is quickly becoming my favorite lens for my X series camera. The quality across the board it top notch. Simply a great lens. My two big issues - there is no way to protect the front element. While it is a WR lens, given the cost and the large exposed front element, I am a bit nervous to bring it out on a more daunting shoot. Second the angle of view is so wide that you really need to be sure you need a lens like this. It can be trick to keep distortion at a minimum, and really compose your shot. Ive been using it for Architecture and it has been great - but if I wasn't shooting Arch I'd be better served with the 10-24.

got this because I have the 10-24 and yes I love it, but this 8-16 is considerably wider and can get just that little bit more in the the landscape

Monster Glass for a mirrorless, you know its in your bag and in your hand.  The wide 8mm angle opens up another avenue of creativity on how you want to perceive the world as an artist, correct distortion or not.  Balances fine even on the Really Right Stuff TFA-01 Ultra Pocket Tripod without battery grip.  Permanent resident in my travel bag regardless of the heft.

I am, by nature, a wide angle kinda guy, and already have the Fuji 10-24 but when this came out I felt the need to go just a bit wider. And I’m glad I did - sure, it’s a bit weighty but the image quality is outstanding IMHO and that extra angle of view makes for more dramatic perspectives in the right circumstances. Even flare is not much of an issue.

The shot of Jemez Falls was taken using an ND10 filter from Fotodiox on their Wonderpana system, which is quite useful when there is too much ambient light to get a long shutter speed.

If you like to go as wide as possible and still stay rectilinear, this is the bad boy for you. I have the Laowa 9MM prime lens but somehow this lens produces better quality images. Or course, it weighs about 100 times as much…

It evokes memories of my old rectilinear 15mm Nikkor, except it is sharper and of course is a zoom.  Heavy and bulky but easily tolerated because it produces such incredible artistic perspective.  Focuses very rapidly on a X-H1 and invites creativity.  Surprising how much fun such a wide lens generates.  Seems to not have any perceptible color aberration.
