Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a way to mount this on a wall or to a light pole? The images don't really show this.

A: The one I got from B&H has a detachable A shaped mounting bracket with a hole for a c-clamp. I would not recommend wall mounting because it will heat up during use and could cause damage or fire. It is a good unit with easy settings. Paul C, Decatur GA

Q: 2. Can this handle a 1000w light?

A: Unfortunately, this Chauvet DMX-4 4 Channel Dimmer/Relay Pack Kit for LED Lighting cannot handle a 1000 watt lamphead.

Q: 3. Can i use this dimmer with filament tungsten bulbs?

A: Yes. Unit will work just fine for you filament tungsten bulbs.

Q: 4. Does this dimmer pack generate any appreciable power draw by itself, apart from the fixtures that are plugged into it? I’m interested in powering this with an inverter, and I want to make sure I don’t overload it. I’m particularly interested if the “ghost load” it generates internally will have any affect on the power draw.

A: The unit technically does not by itself draw power. There is some electronics but the draw is minimal. Just make sure whatever inverter battery you are using can handle a bit over the maximum power of all the lights you are attaching to it. Note that the dimmer pack is not designed to work off of a battery. And dimmer packs like in general are not. You might want to talk to the manufacture direct on this, CHAUVET DJ, https://bit.ly/3k4ondH

Q: 5. How long is the cable from the pack to the external dimmer switch?

A: Per American DJ, the cable is just 6.5" long.

Q: 6. What do the sound activated programs control? If it is a light(s) then how long do they stay on?

A: Once the ED15 is set to the sound activation mode, it will chase through the built in programs as long as it hears audio.

Q: 7. Does it can work with multiple voltage?

A: Yes, CHAUVET DJ DMX-4LED 4-Channel Dimmer Pack is multi-voltage, 100 to 240 VAC, 50 / 60 Hz at 5 to 15 A

Q: 8. How many different fixtures can it manage?

A: The American DJ Scene Setter 24-Channel Dimmer Board (B&H# AMSS24DIMBD) has 24 channels. As such, it can change 24 different types of settings. You can divide those up as you please among as many fixtures as you like as long as no two fixtures have settings set to the same number if you want each fixture controlled separately. Or you can deliberately have two (or more) different fixtures share the same channels to control them together as a group. For example, 24 separate fixtures using one channel each could be dimmed separately as that would require one function per light (24 fixtures x 1 function = 24 channels). Or 12 fixtures using two channels each could be both dimmed and the second feature (e.g. the speed of a strobe effect if your fixtures have a strobe option) could be adjusted (12 fixtures x 2 functions = 24 channels). Each additional function requires one extra channel per fixture. If there are three functions on each fixture then you can control all such functions on eight fixtures separately (8 fixtures x 3 functions = 24 channels). Any multiplicative combination of fixtures and functions that equals no more than 24 will mean that you can control each function of each fixture separately. (Make sure, however, that fixtures do not unintentionally share two channels. So, if one fixture uses four channels then if it’s set to, say, channel 10, then it’ll take up channels 10, 11, 12, and 14.) In a typical setup, one does not need to control every fixture separately. Rather, two or more fixtures are most often set to the same channel and thus controlled as a group. In such a case, let's say we have several one channel fixtures with only a dimming function (no strobe, etc.) set to channel 12. When we move the slider for channel 12 on the controller then those fixtures will be dimmed as a group at the same time. The same would be true of any other functions that those fixtures may have if they possess additional features such as color, strobe, movement, effect, gobo, and so on.

Q: 9. Does it have a port where I can play my own music through it or is it pre loaded with it's own christmas music?

A: This is a dimmer pack, and does not have any pre-loaded music. It does have a small microphone so that it can be sound activated, and by using the dip switches you can change the pattern.

Q: 10. I will connect led lights.decrease dimmer value,light filankaring.any changes

A: We have not had any flickering. The unit provided very smooth light fades. We used the unit on strings of Christmas lights on a stage.
