Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this be used in place of the more expensive Manfrotto/Lastolite white vinyl train?

A: Yes, we suggest using pony clamps to hold in place properly.

Q: 2. I'm getting sagging wrinkles in mine. It's hanging from an Impact wall mounting kit but weather I'm hanging just enough so it's not touching the floor, or pulled all the way out so it's covering the floor and wall, I still get sagging wrinkles. Fortunately these aren't showing up in the photos as I'm blowing out the background, but they definitely would show up if I weren't. I tried clamping the edges to a C-stand to pull it taught and that helped a bit but it would have taken several clamps to get it fully clean. Am I doing something wrong, or is this normal, or ? Thanks!

A: I use mine only to blow out the background - not gray yet. I have only noticed my crossbar sagging ever so slightly - if I changed the light setup to get gray I don't feel the amt. of sagging would be a problem for me. I can't tell you that you are doing anything wrong - just share what I have done/experienced. My guess is your cross bar is not strong enough. I do use clamps to pull a different colored canvas more tight but not the white vinyl - works-ish but is a pain (I feel your pain). I use the photoflex background holder and keep it as close to 9' wide as possible (9' + couple inches. This crossbar system isn't perfect for other reasons, but what is, right?) I did see a photo of a photogs setup where he used a length of wood as his crossbar held up by 2 stands - no sagging at all. I also wonder if your stands are a lot more than 9' apart causing more sag. I have left mine on the cardboard core. One last thought: If mine did sag and that showed in the resulting photos I'd be tempted to put an extra stand in the middle, behind the background to hikeup the center just a touch . . . maybe with a speedlight foot on the top as not to damage the roll . . . does any of this help? I love this backdrop -- all the best!

Q: 3. Is it 'see-through'? Can I use it outdoors?

A: No, it's not see-through ....not transparent or translucent. I've used mine outdoors many times. Works great for keying, especially with the subject 3-4 feet in front of it.

Q: 4. Is this 8'x20' White Savage Infinity Vinyl Background exactly the same as the 9'x20' White Savage Infinity Vinyl Background - except for the size?

A: Yes the material is the same between both sizes mentioned on the Savage Infinity Vinyl Background in white.

Q: 5. Hi,Is this some kind of a film or what?

A: It is vinyl sheeting of probably 6mil+ thickness. It is not a thin film. Think more like a fabric shower curtain.

Q: 6. How long is this roll pulled all the way down? I understand its 5' by 7' but how long is the roll?

A: It is 5 feet wide by 7 feet long.

Q: 7. Does it make sense to use a rental studio when clients are trying to save on paper backgrounds?

A: Depends on application. Attempting to shoot high-key can be difficult as the vinyl is quick to produce specular highlights.

Q: 8. Will this work for a cake smash where I want this to be a backdrop and floordrop?

A: Yes this can work for application as you can easily clean it with soap and water.

Q: 9. In the featured image, you can see the texture of the vinyl. How far does the subject need to be away so that it just looks completely smooth in the background? I understand this will vary based on things like f-stop etc.

A: Position your subject around 6' in front of the background

Q: 10. Is the dimensions 5' across the bar and 12' hanging ?

A: Yes that's right

I've had this white vinyl backdrop for about 6 years.I'm just now replacing it because it's had a lot of use and abuse! (4 studios and dozens of locations later!) I had a problem with it sagging a couple of months after I bought it...but my friend found a metal pipe to fit inside the cardboard tube and it straightened right up! :) It is a heavy beast now...but has worked great, no sagging, no wrinkling, lots of foot traffic!I found if I clean it with foaming glass cleaner from @ it will get almost anything off of it.

We love how the thick vinyl is easy to maintain. Whenever we're done with a shoot we just wipe the material with a couple towels and easily roll it back up. The only downside is how heavy the roll is, so make sure you get a good support system.

My dog peed on this within the first two hours of having it out I'm not joking. Luckily it was such a cinch to clean this thing it wasn't even a problem! For the price this is a steal. It does smell kinda potent at first but just open it all the way up and let it air out for a few hours and it goes away. Secondly! this stuff is such a great material. Really high quality and very easy to clean. Would definitely buy again and recommend.

This product provides a superb background when illuminated. Big enough for group portraits. If you need portability buy something smaller because this background is difficult to set up unassisted.

I bought three Savage infinity 9'x20' white seamless vinyl backdrops for use at a recent large dance team portrait session. They were SO much easier to handle than the giant rolls of seamless paper I've used in the past. True to their description, they were wrinkle free and the cardboard core is very rigid and sturdy.Although I haven't yet cleaned the vinyl, I believe cleanup will be easy.I was able to fit the 9' length inside my 2014 Ford Explorer for transporting. Just barely. The 10' length would have been too long. I only provide this info for anyone else concerned about transporting this (as I was also concerned).Quick tip: remove BOTH end caps prior sliding the vinyl out of the shipping tube. If you do not, the vacuum pressure makes it difficult to slide out. After handling these, I do not consider it to be overly heavy. It has some heft to it, but not bad.It re-rolls snugly with minimal effort and can easily fits back into the shipping tube for transportation or storage. I've found that snugly re-rolling seamless paper is extremely difficult.

Exactly what I was looking for. Per a previous review: I used a 3 light setup: 2 main (LC & RC), and one behind the subject aimed at the background to get the high key look. The cardboard roll is strong and light weight. Easy for portability. The vinyl is sturdy and no worries about rippling or wrinkles. Great for head shots and half body. I'm sure it would be just right for newborn/baby/toddlers as well. Highly recommend; especially with the affordability in cost.

I am very selective with products and on a very limited budget with my equipment. I do as much research as I can, and possible hands on, before purchasing anything. With that said, this is a great replacement for pure white/super white seamless. Little reflection (if any), and durable. Just make sure you use a proper width table to keep it from kinking and overhanging, if you shoot products. The white actually came out white, and not a weird off-white, or creamy color; and no need to over-expose it by a full stop, or two. The only thing to be aware of is hang onto the actual roll when unrolling, or it will just zip off and unroll itself very quickly. I am still waiting to shoot on the Black Vinyl (purchase, just not used yet). If it is anything like the white vinyl, I will be anxious for the release of other colors such as Sienna!
