Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is a pre-amp needed for use with a MAC MINI that has a pin port?

A: If the Mac Mini has a TRRS headset port then the EX-507XD will be compatible. I'm pretty sure most Macs (as well as iOS devices) do use this type of port, which is a headphone/speaker output and microphone input combo. In this case the use of a separate preamplifier is not necessary. The microphone input will be able to accept and amplify microphone level.

Q: 2. How long is the cord?

A: The EX503L features a 1.3 meter cable (4.26 feet).

Q: 3. I may have missed it, but I can't seem to find the length of the wire - how long is the wire? Bonus question - what would be a good extension if I needed to extend the wire?

A: The cable length is about 4 feet. I don't have a specific extension to recommend, but you'll want to look for a mono audio cable that is 3.5mm TS female to 3.5mm TS male.

Q: 4. Thanks for answering previous question. At Azden I see Azden EX-503 | Azden EX-503L | Azden EX-503H. I dint understand the potential difference among them in terms of sound quality. How to choose among these three.I want you use it for interview and documentary work with zoom H1, which one should i look for? How is the ambient sound cancellation?

A: My 14 yo has been using this item for interviews and is very happy. He has used it for school, small buisness, and religious events. There is some ambient noise when background noise is high but for routine interviews and recording speeches it works well. Value for cost is good.

Q: 5. Will this mic work with the Azden 15BT wireless transmitter?

A: No it will not. The EX-507XD works with the PRO-XD transmitter and most mobile devices when plugged into the headset port, but will not work with other Azden transmitters. For the 15BT you should purchase either the EX-503L or EX-50L microphone.

Q: 6. Is Azden EX-503H compatible with SONY WRT820A transmitter?

A: This mic is not compatible with the Sony WRT820A. You would need a mic with a twist-on 4-pin connector that is wired for Sony, such as the Countryman B3 Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone (Black), B&H # COB3SOBRS.

Q: 7. If I combine this with a MiCon-1 adapter can I use it in my RodeLink?

A: No - the MiCon adapter are for RODE lavalier mics only.

Q: 8. does this mic require 48v phantom power?

A: No, this mic is designed to be used with body pack wireless transmitters that supply 2-10 vdc.

Q: 9. will it work with a zoom?

A: The EX-503 will be compatible with devices that have a 3.5mm mic input jack and are able to supply plug in power to the mic. This includes the Zoom H1, H2 and H4N recorders.

Q: 10. Is ex503h mic compatible with sony WRT820A?

A: I am afraid not. The Azden employs a 4-pin mini Hirose Your bodypack uses SONY's proprietary SMC9-4P connector. The pin-assignment may be different:Pin 1: +5 voltsPin 2: HotPin 3: ColdPin 4: Ground

Much better sound than the original lav mic. If I buy another ProXD I will buy another one of these with it. Highly recommended!

This does just what it says - a better, fuller sounding mic. Easy

I use this as a clip on mic for interviews and wedding video. It works especially well for weddings to capture the vows and go along with the video. I was impressed with how clear the sound was and the noise cancelling was great. The only draw back is that it records in 1 channel mono as opposed to 2 channel stereo. Its very hard to notice unless you are wearing headphones however.

I use this microphone to mic the groom at weddings. I run it into a Tascam DR-03. It works great!

Guys, seriously, go with this microphone. It gives great semi-professional sound, and it's a great price! What I did is I bought a Sony voice recorder and I use this mic plugged into the mic jack of the voice recorder to sync up to my video interviews later...I get great results! I also use a Rode mic ontop of my DSLR for more depth to my interview sound and as backup sound, but I do love this little mic! Highly recommend!

I attach this to my H1 Handy recorder to record my weekly messages. It is great. The length of the cable is plenty without it being in the way. I have used several times and i love it!!

I had to replace the lav microphone for an Azden WR-PRO wireless mic pack (not the microphone's fault... it literally was trampled by the talent...). I tried some quick replacements while this was in the mail, but I was glad when the package showed up since nothing could match the sound of the original. It has great pick-up while also ignoring a lot of background noise, such as a busy highway or a crowded convention hall. If you have an Azden pack, BE SURE TO GET THIS MIC. If you get an electrocet mic that is powered by a battery, you get a bad buzz in the audio line. The only con I have seen is that the tie-clip included is a bit flimsy, doesn't really grip well and is easy to lose.

I like a lot, is an excellent for interviews, you'll hear clear, and for that price is excellent choice. I use it with my 60d and i connect it directly to my cam.
