A: I have a different view; you have to remove one of the safety screws and then slide the bracket into the RRS clamp. To me that is not working; I expect to be able to utilize both safety screws and to drop my Arca plate into the clamp. RRS plates allow you to drop the plate in which is faster and to me safer.

A: Yes, I purchased the custom l bracket listed for the a9 & a7Rlll. It fit perfectly on my a9. Though, where connect cables to camera is a little tight.

A: No it wont. I have used a Desmond DAC-60 QR clamp mounted on the Manfrotto plate. This allowed me to use my Manfrotto tripod with this L-bracket. You can find these clamps for about $30.
