Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can i get it in 3 meter length ?

A: These low-profile type cables from Cable Techniques currently only come in short sizes, because they are designed to connect to field recorders and mixers and take up less space in bags. We do sell the connectors, and bulk XLR cable, if you would like to make your own longer cables.

Q: 2. will this cable work AND supply phantom power to a Shure VP88 stereo mic?

A: Yes, this Cable Techniques Y-cable will work with the Shure VP88. In order to power the mic, each of the 3-pin XLR connectors must be connected to a phantom power

Q: 3. is the head type/angle adjustable on these cables? I'm looking for a 3 o'clock head on the male and a 12 o'clock head on the female.

A: It does not appear that the connector orientation on the Cable Techniques 10'Low-Profile Right-Angle XLR-3F to XLR-3M Mic/Patch Cable (Black Caps)Mogami W2549 Cable is adjustable. The XLR connectors used appear to be one solid component without the ability to unscrew and reorient.

Q: 4. It can connect to a camera with xlr inputs, correct? The description only lists recorders and mixers.

A: Yes the Rode Wireless GO to 3-Pin XLR Male Low-Profile Cable can connect to a camera with an XLR mic input.

Q: 5. Is this cable balanced?

A: No, the Cable Techniques CT-MIN-LPUOX-18 is an unbalanced cable.

Q: 6. Will this cable work with the sennheiser EK 100 G3 transmitter?

A: Yes, the Cable Techniques Mini TRS to XLR Male Low-Profile Wireless Output Cable (18") is compatible with the Sennheiser EK 100 G3 transmitter.

Q: 7. Since these cables are not Shielded, are there known issues with EMI and RFI Noise with them?

A: The cabling used to assemble the Cable Techniques Low-Profile, 3-Pin XLR Female to 3-Pin XLR Male Adjustable-Angle Cable typically implements either a lap or braided shield and does not have any known issues with EMI or RF noise.

Q: 8. is it attachable with Ambient Recording QAT-ECO?

A: The Ambient Recording QAT-ECO should be able to fit just below the colored cap on the XLR connector.

Q: 9. What is the weight of the cable, without packaging?

A: I'm sorry, but I don't have a listed weight for the Cable Techniques Coiled Jumper Cable Low-Profile (6 to 15"). This is normally packaged in a simple plastic bag, so the 0.155 lbs packed weight is very close to the weight of the cable alone.

Q: 10. Can these cables handle 48v phantom power? I want this cables because of their low profile look, and use them into a regular home studio setup (Podcasting, and vocals recording), but I dont know if there's a con with that, might over heating.

A: This cable handles Phantom power 48v, I've used them in the past to provide a shotgun mic with 48v from a camcorder and had no issues.

I have 5 of these and I love them. They're low profile and high quality. I'm happy they come in different colors too so I can easily keep track of what input is in which microphone.

I wondered when I bought these why they were so expensive.... once I got them I found out. You can actually swivel the cord in any direction you want (tool included) by unlocking the cap and rotating it. I'll be getting more of these soon!!!

This cable is perfect to go from my camera-mounted shotgun mic to the camera's XLR input. It stays out of the way better than any cable I've ever used on a camera and is very lightweight.

it isn't magic. Didn't convert my Sony Z7 microphone into an XLR plug instead of the hard-wired cable (which I was planning on replacing since it has a typical large XLR Male on the camera end.) DOH!!
Suppose I should have checked rather than remembered

Necessary for routing audio in a sound bag—but wish they were about half the price. Still, incredibly versatile because they can be adjusted to any angle on both ends. Cleaned up my bag nicely.

I bought 2 of these 10 inch cables to use with my Tascam X8 and a couple of external mics. The mics are mounted onto the X8 with a SmallRig shoe mounted mic clip. These cables work great with this setup since they are small, lightweight, and the adjustable angle lets. you set them up so they don't touch or rub up against each other. The sound and build quality is great too. I've taken these out in the field to many time to count. already and have had zero issues. I will be buying a couple more for sure.

This is my second one. The first one lasted about 2 years, but I used it on many doc / field shoots in all types of climates. So I have to say, its a good cable!
