Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will this cable work AND supply phantom power to a Shure VP88 stereo mic?

A: Yes, this Cable Techniques Y-cable will work with the Shure VP88. In order to power the mic, each of the 3-pin XLR connectors must be connected to a phantom power

Q: 2. On the XLR end, does the blue cap rotate so you can change the angle at which the wire comes out of it?

A: The Cable Techniques Right-Angle Locking 3.5mm TRS to Low-Profile XLR Male Coiled Cable for Sennheiser features a right-angle XLR connector. The angle of the connector cannot be adjusted, it is only 90 degrees.

Q: 3. Is this compatible for use as an AES/EBU digital cable?

A: The Cable Techniques CT-LPS-3TMX Low-Profile TA3F to LXPXLR-3M Cable is designed to pass analog audio signals and will not likely pass digital signals in the same manner.

Q: 4. Is this cable balanced or unbalanced?

A: Yes this cable is balanced

Q: 5. If I wanted to use this cable for the two LR outs on my mixpre 10II can i use it ?

A: Yes you can.

Q: 6. Since these cables are not Shielded, are there known issues with EMI and RFI Noise with them?

A: The cabling used to assemble the Cable Techniques Low-Profile, 3-Pin XLR Female to 3-Pin XLR Male Adjustable-Angle Cable typically implements either a lap or braided shield and does not have any known issues with EMI or RF noise.

Q: 7. Is this also compatible with Sennheiser G4 receivers?

A: The Cable Techniques Right-Angle Locking 3.5mm TRS to Low-Profile TA3M Coiled Cable (8 to 15") would not be recommended for use with Sennheiser receivers. The Sennheiser CL 35-XLR Right-Angle Locking 3.5mm TRS to XLR Male Coiled Output Cable (BH #SE700062 ) should be used instead.

Q: 8. is it attachable with Ambient Recording QAT-ECO?

A: The Ambient Recording QAT-ECO should be able to fit just below the colored cap on the XLR connector.

Q: 9. Will this split a GO 2 receiver into CH1 and CH2 so I can monitor two lavs separately?

A: Yes, the Cable Techniques 3.5mm Right-Angle TRS to Dual Low-Profile TA3M Mini-XLR Y Cable can be used with the RODE Wireless GO II Digital Wireless Microphone System and will split the audio from each transmitter onto separate channels when the receiver is set for stereo mode. Be aware that this cable has TA3 mini-XLR connectors for use with cameras like the Canon EOS C70 or the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro, or other audio devices equipped with mini-XLR mic inputs.

Q: 10. can i get it in 3 meter length ?

A: These low-profile type cables from Cable Techniques currently only come in short sizes, because they are designed to connect to field recorders and mixers and take up less space in bags. We do sell the connectors, and bulk XLR cable, if you would like to make your own longer cables.
