Kirk Bl-xt2g L-bracket For Fujifilm Xt-2 With Vpb-xt2 Battery Grip

This BL-XT2G L-Bracket from Kirk Enterprises is an Arca-type compatible bracket designed specifically for use with the Fujifilm XT-2 camera with the VPB-XT2 battery grip mounted. Meticulously designed, it enables fast changes between portrait and landscape orientation while maintaining access to your cameras valuable connection ports and battery compartment.

The concept of the L-bracket removes the need to re-adjust your tripod head and completely recompose for different shots. The user can simply release the bracket from nearly any Arca-type compatible quick release clamp, tilt it 90°, and lock the bracket back in place. Using an L-bracket also facilitates a sturdier base of support than tilting an entire head to a 90° position and puts less strain on your support gear.

For camera attachment the plate features a captive 1/4"-20 stainless steel mounting screw—an adjacent 1/4"-20 socket is also included for directly mounting the bracket without an Arca-type clamp.

Kirk L-Brackets are constructed of two separate parts—a base plate and side-arm—which appear detachable in the images above. It is important to note that the screws attaching the vertical side-arm to the base plate are not removable and thus, the L-Bracket may not be disassembled.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this L bracket attach properly to the Nikon Z7 camera (first version)?

A: This Kirk BL-Z7II L-Bracket for Nikon Z 7II, Z 6II, and Z 5 would not work with the original Nikon Z7.

Q: 2. How much does the grip extend movie recording for resolutions lower than 4k?

A: It's the same, 30 minutes. The limit is due to heat and preventing the camera form overheating.

Q: 3. Will this work with Blackrapid camera straps?

A: The Kirk BL-Z7II L-Bracket for Nikon Z 7II, Z 6II, and Z 5 is directly compatible with BlackRapid straps that have the QD connector. For the BlackRapid straps without the QD connector one can use the Kirk QD Quick Disconnect Push Button Swivel-D, BH #KIKQDDLOOP (https://bhpho.to/3dwmMzs).

Q: 4. what are the dimensions? Specifically how wide is the part that gets clamped? I have a plate that fits the ftz adapter already but it is too small for the clamp I use, the clamp cannot be tightented enough to secure the plate.

A: The dimensions would be standard ARCE Swiss dimensions. So as long as the head that you use is ARCA Swiss compatible, this will work for you.

Q: 5. Where can I find the plastic cover that protects the pins on the grip?

A: Try calling the Fujifilm service facility in Edison NJ and ask for parts. 1-800-659-3854

Q: 6. Does it further improve auto focus performance? or is it the same as in-camera boost mode?

A: It's slightly better autofocus. Fuji's detailed page explains the precise differences. Shooting interval goes from 0.19 sec. to 0.17 sec., shutter lag from 0.05 sec. to 0.045 sec., blackout time from 130msec. to 114msec., and finally high speed shooting goes from 8 fps to 11 fps.In practice the difference if fairly minimal.

Q: 7. Will this work with the new XT-4?

A: It won't. The grip for the XT4 is this one. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1548397-REG/fujifilm_16651332_vg_xt4_vertical_battery_grip.html

Q: 8. Do they make one of these for the X-T1

A: A suitable option would be the Vello BG-F1 Battery Grip for Fujifilm X-T1, BH # VEBGF1. https://bhpho.to/3kITPhO

Q: 9. Will this fit the new Fujifilm X-T3 and its battery grip?

A: Since the new XT-3 is close to 1/2 inch thicker than the XT-2, it's doubtful the Kirk L-Bracket you're asking about will fit the new vertical grip. But since nobody has actually seen one yet, it's really too early to know for sure. Wait until the new grip is released and compare specs with the old one.

Q: 10. Can this grip use the newer NP-W126S batteries or just the older NP-W126 batteries?

A: The grip works fine with the older battery. Fuji claims the newer battery is necessary to get top performance. I haven't had mine long enough to figure out what the real differences are.

Able to open port door with plate full pressed against the side of the camera body. Able to use in portrait mode on my tripod, as the door does not extend past the plate. Able to use a USB cable in portrait mode using the channel towards the bottom, just be sure to buy a USB cable with a right-angled mini USB3 connector.

If price is not a problem for you then go for this bracket. Seems to be well made. However, although I like it, I still cannot justify the price...

This Kirk L-bracket fits snugly on my X-T2 with the battery grip. It's a solid, one piece of construction, and seems designed and machined for this one particular camera application. I have used it effectively in astrophotography and landscape work, and it's a quality piece of gear which fits readily with my Really Right Stuff tripod head. I'm very pleased and look forward to years of good service.

An excellent well constructed bracket that fits the battery grip perfectly. The plates on bottom and side fit the Arca mount on my tripod with ease. Well satisified.

The build quality is great. Very sturdy. Rugged. Nothing to complain. It fits the X-T2 + the grip with ease.

It will make operating camera a bit harder. Mostly when you need to access the connectors door. It is a bit more difficult to open the door to access USB & Mic socket with the L-bracket on. If you have small hand you can use your pinky slide in and open the door without taking out the bracket.

One great point is with this bracket on the whole setup is more balanced. At the same time the setup will be heavier make shooting more stable but that depends how you like the weight of your camera.
