I bought this lens from B&H last month, and use it on an E330. First impressions are that it is quite large and heavy, which is to be expected when you consider how much glass it contains. In use it is prone to flare, so you do have to be careful where the light source is. It won't accept filters and as it gathers a tremendous amount of contrasting elements, being so wide, exposure is a bit more of a challenge than it is with longer focal lengths.Compositions are also more of a challenge, and you have to get extremely close to your subject if it is not to be lost in the overall image. The quality of the results is fantastic. Distortion is kept to a minimum and horizons are very straight. Definition and detail is superb from edge to edge and colour rendition is excellent.Build quality seems very high and I am sure that it is a tough lens, but the front element does protrude so I keep the metal lens cap on as much as possible for fear of scratching it.It is an expensive lens but it delivers, and it is one that I could not now do without. It has hardly been off the camera since I bought it. Expertise: Amateur Problems Encountered: No problems that are the fault of the lens. It just takes a bit getting used to.

I bought this lens with E-3, I have never seen so fast Auto focus lens in my life. I tested Canon Nikon, this lens and E-3 are best combination under $2500.00 range. It works with FL-50 flash so well. Expertise: 5 Years Problems Encountered: None to write Items I Recommend: E-3

Replaced my 50mm Sigma Macro f2.8 and my Pentax 100mm f2.8 with this lens. This lens is very impressive. It is also a true f2.0. It is more expensive than my Sigma 50mm Macro f2.8 but it is so far superior that the two can not be compared. It is sharper than my Pentax 100mm f2.8 and the AF system is superior when lighting is an issue and a macro shot is needed. Its AF is also extremely fast. I am using it on a Panasonic DMC-L1. The build quality (made in Japan, btw) and fit & finish are also top notch. I am not so impressed with the supplied soft bag, but only Sigma seems to supply nice bags for their lenses. My other 50mm f2.8 and 100mm f2.8 macro lenses have constant problems with AF when using for Macro use. Even worse if lighting is not perfect. The Olympus 50mm f2.0 can actually be used for macro use with the AF. The speed of the lens on top of that make it a joy to use. Panasonic DMC-L1 & Leica Digilux 3 users: This lens works perfect on my DMC-L1. First non Panasonic/Leica lens I have used on them (I have two). Now if Olympus would introduce a 150-180mm f2.0 Macro I would be first in line (although I am sure that would be a very costly lens). Olympus 50mm f2.0

Bought this lens to use with my E510, not E3 like the other reviewers thus far. Wasn't sure the focus speed thing would be apparent with this body. Was I ever wrong. So fast the first couple shots I almost thought the camera misfired. Can't quite believe it. Optics are first rate too. Sharp, saturated images are the norm. If this lens actually focuses faster on an E3, it must be in focus before you depress the shutter release.

It was a hard call to make because of the price and for the first week or so I had the usual buyer's remorse but the more I used the lens the more I fell in love with it. This is a superb lens with very high IQ, beautiful rendering, sharp, shows very fine details. The portraits made with it are simply fantastic (it really excels around 60 mm). Until this lens, I was not a big fan of zooms preferring primes but this one really shines even in comparison with really fine primes that I have used. I use it with E-330, and it's a perfect combination. The weight is not a problem, gives a nice feeling and balances E-330 very well. This is my most used lens, especially for people. I go to kids parties and with this lens and E-330's LiveView mode A (I shoot from the waist level), I get terrific pictures. I use it often with AF-C, it focuses very fast and reliably and I get shots that I would have otherwise easily missed. You may say that 14-54 is half the price. Well, you get what you pay for. It is easily worth the premium.
