Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it work for Canon EF 100-400 mm lens?

A: Yes, the Really Right Stuff 6" Multi-Purpose Rail (1/4"-20) is compatible with the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM Lens.

Q: 2. What is the accessory seen in the 4th picture of the product? Looks like a macro rail adapter but I could not find any information about it.

A: That is a part that RRS does not make any more. And you can use many other rails with that as it is Arca-Swiss style connection.

Q: 3. Is that with new rrs logo?

A: This will be the latest product available from RSS.

Q: 4. I know it's early, but does anyone think this will work with the RS3?

A: We can only confirm that the Really Right Stuff DJI Ronin S2 CL Rail is compatible with the DJI RS 2, RSC 2, Ronin S.

Q: 5. Cant get the clamps to rotate. Loosed the screw and it still won't work? Any ideas?

A: Once you loosen the screw with the hex key one full rotation, then pull clamps apart. Rotate 90 degrees, seat back together, and tighten the screw.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with Arca-Swiss clamps?

A: Yes, the Really Right Stuff Multipurpose Cinema Rail (14.2") is compatible with Arca-Swiss clamps.

Q: 7. Is the Really Right Stuff MPR-192 & Mini-Clamps Package the same as the 192 PPP sold on RRS website?

A: Yes it is.

Q: 8. CAN this be used as a macro rail?

A: It could be used as a macro rail, but since you would have to loosen and re position by hand it would not be as precise as a rail designed for use as a macro rail like this Manfrotto https://bhpho.to/2xWM0hO.

Q: 9. Is this Really Right Stuff Mini-Clamp Package is compatible with manfrottos quick release plate?

A: Unfortunately not. This is designed for Acra-Swiss type plates as opposed to Manfrotto's RC2 quick release system.

Q: 10. Is this plate compatible with the Manfrotto 504PLONG? I have a Manfrotto MVH502AH video head and would like to be sure I can use it on that head. Thank you

A: Yes and no. the RS2 (and by extension this Really Right stuff substitute) is compatible with with Manfrotto tripod heads but it is more difficult to use than normal Manfrotto plates. It mounts from front to back instead of back to front. The fact that it mounts in the opposite direction makes it awkward to get the quick release plate on and off your tripod. the safety mechanism can get caught leaving your camera stuck on the tripod and requiring force to remove it. Yes the plate will mount on your tripod but it will be more difficult to get it on and off your tripod than a normal manfrotto quick release plate.

Great for basic use, screw on filters, or no filters, the fixed position and orientation of the clamp means that this is not suitable By itself for very wide lenses because the rail might end up in the shot, or use with 100mm or 150mm filters because they won’t fit with the rail, or a telephoto lens because the nodal point of the lens might end up behind the clamp... If you would like a more flexible tool, get the one where the clamp is not fixed. Very well built.

This is my third or fourth rail from RRS, and the most simple one. I had everything for multi-row, vertical, etc., but really needed the small, low-profile CL-II and it's perfect for shooting panos. Quality is fantastic as everything usually is with RRS.

I loved my first rail so much that I bought a second. I have two tripods so I need two rails.
I use them primarily to create images that have more resolution than that of the camera is attached to the rail.
If you have a crop sensor camera, you can use this rail to create a full frame image.
Same for a full frame camera. You can use the rail to create a Medium Format image.
Just mount your camera to this rail vertically using an L bracket and capture multiple images using a tripod then merge them in Photoshop.
Any questions!

You get RRS because everything in the RRS line is beautifully manufactured and of the highest quality. Itâ€s a solid piece and the engravings are etched legibly and very importantly the location of the bubble-level is smartly placed where it can be seen with a camera attached. (Not the case for many other alternative rails out there.)
This piece works perfectly for me being both an adapter for using a new gimbal head with my RRS L-bracket as well as for quickly identifying the so-called “nodal point setup for shooting panoramic stitched photos.
The RRS website has the best information about finding the “nodal point for any camera and lens — as well as sharing the actual nodal point measurement for several dozen camera and lens combinations using this rail! They make it so easy.

It took a while to understand how to position it for the longer lenses I own, but once adjusted for its longer length, it functions as described. Glad i got the longer nodal slide as all but 1 of my lenses needed the longer length.

I looked at other alternatives to RRS rail integral clamp but many were expensive and large in size. With its built in level and easy attachment to my RRS ball head this was a very simple solution.

I have had good experience so far with this pano rail with 35mm cameras. It works perfectly with the RRS PC-PRO panning head head on a ball head travel tripod and by itself on a larger tripod with leveling base and an Arca Swiss geared cube head. My only con is that the clamp is permanently oriented perpendicular to the rail. I have both a medium and a large format field camera that have dedicated rail plates parallel to the lens direction that will not work with this rail. However, I have ordered an RRS MPR-192 with a clamp that can be oriented either parallel or perpendicular to the rail. I wish I had thought this out better before buying this one. But if you are using a 35 mm camera with an L-bracket, this one is absolutely a best choice.

Besides using this for panorama photos, I use this for macro photography. Very detailed piece of gadget, like other RRS products.
