This rugged, black Lavalier Windjammer from Rycote is designed for use with lavalier microphones worn on the outside of clothing. It reduces wind noise (up to 12 dB) and clothes rustle,and is suitable for interviews or news broadcasts located outdoors in windy conditions.

This Windjammer features an elasticized opening and a foam insert to secure the microphone within it. For maximum wind-noise reduction, the windscreen that was included with your lavalier microphone can be used as well.

A: The Rycote Lavalier Windjammers may be too small to fit the Lom Mikrousi Lavalier Microphones since they are intended for use with mics that have a 4.5mm diameter and the Lom mic has a 6.8 mm diameter. A better option may be the Bubblebee Industries Windbubble Miniature Imitation-Fur Windscreen - Lav Size 2, 35mm, Black (B&H # BUBBIL02B) which will fit with the foam windscreen underneath. The Bubblebee Windbubble fits mics that have a diameter of 5 to 8 mm.

Q: 5. Can this windjammer be used with a Sennheiser ME-4 lav mic?

A: I use it fine with the ME-2 lav mic. I have never used it with the ME-4 which is a little fatter on top but this windjammer stretches and looks like it should fit the ME-4. The windjammer only cost $20 so you might order it and try it out and if it doesnt work with your mic then you can return it.

Q: 6. Can this windjammer be used with a Sennheiser ME-2 lav mic? That lav mic is not listed on the compatible list.

A: Yes! The foam inserts don't fit on the mic but it's big enough that the elastic on the windjammer will slip over the element and stay there.

Q: 7. Will this fit the Videomic Pro+ ?

A: No, this Rycote Mini Windjammer is intended for use with a different mic. For the VideoMic Pro+, you can use the Rycote Mini Windjammer for Rode VMP+ (B&H # RY055470) or Rode DeadCat VMPR+ Artificial Fur Windshield for VideoMic Pro Plus Microphone (B&H # RODEADCATVPP).

Q: 8. Has anyone tried this on the deity v3 pro?

A: The diameter of the two mics is the same, and the Deity is less than an inch longer that the Rode, so yes, it should be a good fit.

Q: 9. Will this fit a Clippy EM172? Mic dimensions are 11.8x25mm.

A: This furry windscreen is made for lavalier microphones, up to 4.5mm X 15mm, so it would not accommodate the Chippy EM172, which we do not currently carry. I would recommend contacting Rycote for the specific furry windscreen for that mic.

A: Yes, the Rycote Lavalier Windjammer will fit on the DPA Microphones 6060 CORE Subminiature Lavalier Microphone.

We do a lot of interviews with our videos. Many times you pick up wind or random movement. When I installed the furry windjammer all random noise was cut down or. eliminated. There is no distortion when applied. The voice quality stayed the same. 5

Purchased for use on lavalier mic placed on a moving cyclist. Even on a windy day, this made all the difference. Audio was crisp, clear and no wind noise. Will fit a large range of lavs. Has small fabric loop to slide over the mic clip so you don't accidentally lose it, but elastic keeps it on surprisingly well. Loved it! 5

I wasn't Shure (pun intended) what furry would fit the Shure TL47, this did however, and it seemed to work well! They should add this to the list of compatible lavs. 5

As producers for Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, the outdoors is our studio. By using laviliere mics we get an audio quality expected from a studio, while remaining in the outdoors. We do this with these. We call the big ones dead cats these are the dead kittens. They will hush a 35 knot wind. They really work well and we use nothing else, but perhaps a 80Hz roll off highpass in post. You can listen to the camera mic and hear what sounds like a hurricane in the camera, but you don't even know the wind is blowing with these on. We buy black, white and grey depending on clothing colors. Recommend three for each mic unit you have in service. 5

If you are shooting outside using a lav, you need it! All it takes is a little wind in the right direction and your done for. With the Furry Lavalier Windjammer, you do not need to worry. I have all 3 (black, gray & white). the only negative is the it is hard to hide and quite noticable but that is why you have the 3 different shades so you can match or get close to the clothing color it is attached to. I would rather deal with that than wind noise in my audio. 5
