This is to replace my old NAS. Installation is very easy. I love the Software interface.

I bought the disk-less version, and added my own WD 4Tb RED disks. I am running a RAID 10 array for photos and other stuff. This is now my primary external; disk drive system for my iMac where I will store the photo library and other data. It took about 55 hours to transfer of approx 100,000 photo images using the Lightroom interface. It was slow, but it was the first copy to this RAID array; I expect it will be faster from now on. As for my backup, I am considering this RAID primary and secondary. My next level of backup is WD portable 4Tb disks backup from the RAID using the included tools. I will pass on two things that I learned (so far): 1) LaCie externally powered (non-USB powered) disks will cause this NAS system to freeze up, requiring an unplug and restart. I am now using only USB powered backup drives. I will rotate 1 of 2 USB drives as a backup each week and keep it in a fire safe offsite. (subscription cloud storage service seems too slow and too expensive for what I needed) 2) You can access your data remotely (over an internet connection, but you cannot access the NAS dashboard unless you are at home / office where the NAS is located. This is really not a factor for me. This device is setup to backup your phones, iPads, MacBooks using Time Machine. I assume that it works just as well with a PC or Android.

This is my favorite nas to date. It runs all Plex flawlessly, install was very simple. Drive setup and raid setup very easy. This has Hardware raid, far more stable then other companies NAS boxes. Best feature I have found is the security camera software add on. I have roelink camera installed around my house, this software on the NAS found and connected to all and started recording motion with very minimal setup. High recommend can't beat the feature vs cost on this guy.

I essentially have my own cloud. I have loaded the PLEX software to organize my movies, music, and photos. This works well with client devices like smart phones and TVs. One of the first things I did on my desktop was to map the letter Z: to the NAS drive. Now I can copy files from my PC using Windows explorer.

Another bright spot is the DLNA app on the NAS. It allows you to stream your music collection in the My Music folder to your receiver, provided the receiver has Heos.

Faster than EX4100. Using this system as Media server. Works great! Probably just my unit, but, LCD display does not turn off when given the command to do so. It only dims. I have sent an email to WD tech support. No response yet.

Nice unit overall. Interface to transfer data from another drive is cumbersome at best. I have the pr2100 in my bedroom due to router/modem location and it is noticeably loud, nothing disturbing, but more than one would expect. Have only had it 2 months as it just replaced my old mybook live so time will tell.

This is my second NAS server I also have the EX2 series at home. So far it runs pretty much like the EX2 model. Setup can be challenging depending on your computer's configuration, but in most cases it's pretty straight forward for an slightly above average user.

I have dumped all my music, movies onto this NAS and it has barely made a dent in it. Running raid 5 knocks it down to about 17tb but provides data protection. Could not be happier with the PR4100 and would recommend it for anyone who uses plex or has a huge music/movie library.

I bought the PR4100 because it had a lot of storage and it looked pretty powerful and so far it is. I'm still going through a good learning curve with it but that is for the more complicating parts of it. I am still moving photos and video to it and that is taking some time. I have created a backup section for our phones, so no more 5g limit that is absolutely wonderful. I did set it up with the duel core wires so that should not be a choke point and actually it is pretty quick, much faster than what I was using before
