The 35mm Master Anamorphic Prime Lens is a wider lens in a set from ARRI/Zeiss featuring low distortion and a fast T1.9 aperture for achieving shallow depth of field. This anamorphic prime offers the skin tones and color rendition for which Zeiss is noted, and color-matches other ARRI/Zeiss primes and ARRI/Fujinon zoom lenses. Its 15-blade iris produces cinematic-looking, oval bokeh with distinct focus fall-off. There is minimal breathing when focusing and no "fat face/anamorphic mumps" effect on your talent. With there being no visible drop-off at the corner of your images, the full 2.39-format image is usable.

Designed from scratch for use with digital cinema cameras, the ARRI/Zeiss Master Anamorphic primes will provide optimal image quality when used with an ARRI ALEXA 4:3-format camera. They will work with film cameras as well. Color fringing and shading in image corners is reduced thanks to the near telecentric design of these multi-coated lenses.

This anamorphic lens provides a 2.39:1 aspect ratio to your image when used with a Super-35 sensor. The 28mm Master Anamorphic Prime Lens features a 30" minimum focus distance, focus marks in feet, a relatively light weight of 5.7 pounds, and a compact length of 7.2". The lens is constructed with geared focus and iris rings for use with follow focus, zoom control, and F/I/Z wireless systems. The PL LDS mount on the 35mm Master Anamorphic Prime Lens will transfer lens data to compatible cameras.

When I saw the many video reviews and demos of the Remus Lenses and the price for a set, I knew that they were going to be my first venture into anamorphic lenses.

Although it took almost 3 months to get the set, it was well worth the wait. I recommend this model, for it's budget and it's quality build. It's really amazing.

I've only done tests on location with these before the shoot I've been planning next week... These lenses have a dreamy, droopy, anamorphic look wide open, but I wouldn't suggest using them wide open unless you need a dreamy look. Super soft wide open. At T2.8 it gets better but T4 is where it actually gets sharp. For more context, I'm shooting on a C70, and we know that camera is on the softer side...

Aperture/Focus rings are smooth and a pleasure to use.

Focus breathing is not great, but depending on the shot your going after, it could be ok. They do some funky things when panning or handheld. I plan to use these lenses mostly locked off, on a slider, dolly, etc for nice smooth controlled shots with an artistic look.

Definitely recommend.

The best way to go anamorphic at a budget price using the full size of an MFT sensor like on ZCam E2. Top quality build and image. Just an error in the B&H description: the filter size is 67mm!!!

I just received this lens set TODAY so please take this all with a grain of salt. This is also being done without shimming so there may be a little bit of blurriness that normally wouldn't be there. I added 2.39 bars to help see what an end image may look like.

I really wanted to see the differences between the Great Joy Set and the Remus. I've uploaded some photos to help people choose.

Overall I think I may go with the Remus as they seem to actually sharpen up closely to the Great Joy's when opened to 2.8T. they also seem to actually have a little more color constancy between each other (However, I did my test on a cloudy day so the sun may have played a factor).

To play to the favor of the Great Joy set they are a little cleaner and I would say might be a better set of lenses for commercial style work where as the Remus set seem to lean into the Narrative a bit more.

Hope this is a little helpful! Both sets of lenses are totally worth the money.
