With four Gigabit PoE+ ports and dual dedicated SFP slots, the 6-Port Industrial Gigabit PoE+ DIN-Rail Switch from TRENDnet is designed to power a variety of PoE compatible devices. This switch features a 60- to 120-watt power budget and comes equipped with a 12 Gbps switching capacity and a 9 KB jumbo frame to handle a large amount of network traffic.

Installation is simple as this switch includes both DIN-rail and wall mounts along with a hardened IP30 housing to help protect against physical damage. The TI-PG62B can even withstand extreme temperatures of -40 to 167 degrees. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it come with a power supply?

A: The Vivotek AW-IHB-1040 10-Port Gigabit PoE++ Compliant Industrial Managed Switch, B&H # VIAWIHB1040, does not include a power supply.

Q: 2. What version of the hardware is this switch?

A: Sorry for the late response, but just to confirm, I ordered my unit on May 2, 2016 and also received H/W version 3.0R. And FWIW, this TRENDnet switch replaced my failed Linksys switch and worked perfectly right out of the box. It's been running 24x7 for over five months now without a single issue - highly recommended.

Q: 3. how does the switch get its data to distribute to devices?

A: You would plug your router/modem in to 1 of the 8 ports and up to 7 other devices in to the remaining ports.

Q: 4. What port number does the incoming from server go into, I'm assuming number 1? TIA

A: The manufacturer has not specified any of the TPE-TG84's Ethernet ports as a designated upstream port.

Q: 5. Is this Version v1.0R or Version v2.0R? It appears from the pictures to be the v1.0R which TRENDnet says is discontinued.

A: We no longer have the V1.0R. It has now been updated to the V2.0R.

Q: 6. I am look at hard wiring 4 trend-net ip camera to a computer. Will this box allow be to do that? and access the IP address of each camera?

A: Yes, it will work. I'm not familiar with the IP cameras, but I would think that you'll need POE injectors to power the cameras using this switch. You other option would be to purchase a POE switch, which would provide the necessary power to the cameras.

Q: 7. What is the forwarding rate for this switch?

A: Netgear does not specify this. But here is the data sheet for some other helpful information on this switch. https://www.netgear.com/media/GS108LP_GS108PP_GS116LP_GS116PP_DS_tcm148-68424.pdf

Q: 8. Any idea on how far you can run ethernet to power a simple bullet cam using this switch?

A: The standard recommended limit to a single run of Ethernet cable connection is 100m or about 325 feet. As the POE standard can adapt to power requirements, based off the length, as long as your stay below the 100m you should have no problem. I have run connections out over 150 feet with no problems.

Q: 9. Is the fan always on ? And how loud is it ? Would one be OK working all day with this switch 5ft away ?

A: According to Netgear, the fan as DB rating of 28.8Db which is quite quiet.

Q: 10. which port do you use to connect to internet?

A: You can connect it to any port - doesn't matter. Think of a Network Switch like a distribution box for network traffic.
