The Aurora(ⁿ) 8 DNT from Lynx Studio Technology is a mastering-grade 8-channel AD/DA converter which supports up to 24-bit / 192 kHz conversion and comes with a preinstalled LT-DANTE Dante interface. It offers significant performance and flexibility improvements over the company's well-regarded line of Aurora converters, providing an even greater level of wide-open, uncompressed, and unequalized audio for studios, mastering facilities, remote recording, broadcast, live performance or production installations.

The Aurora(ⁿ) 8 DNT combines Hilo-like technology with the latest FPGA processors, to achieve greater transparency and reduction of both noise and distortion. One word clock input and three outputs let you use the unit as a master clock or slave it to an external clock. In addition, the Aurora(ⁿ) is equipped with an LSlot expansion bay which allows for a wide array of current connectivity options such as Thunderbolt, Dante, Pro Tools | HD, and USB, but can also be used to add more channels and additional hardware, as your production needs evolve.

Other features include an onboard microSD player/recorder capable of up to 32 channels of direct recording and playback, ideal when working in the field. Two headphone outputs with independent volume control let you monitor your sound with audiophile-grade precision, while a bright LCD display gives you immediate access to all levels and functions, right from the front pane

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do the toslink inputs support a standard SPDIF stereo data stream, e.g. from a CD player?

A: Yes, the Toslink inputs on the Ferrofish Verto 64 support ADAT format and can be used to connect standard SPDIF stereo data from a CD player.

Q: 2. Will it work with the Yamaha LS9

A: Unfortunately not, compatible with TF-series mixers only. LS9 mixer requires the DANTE-MY16-AUD2 card, we are not authorized to sell that card, you need to contact Yamaha directly for more assistance.

Q: 3. I have three, independent stereo systems in my home, and ethernet ports near each of them. Can I use this equipment so I can play the same music on each of these systems at the same time? I.e. output from one system and input to the other two systems, using each separate pre-amp/power amp (or receiver) to power each separate pair of speakers?

A: No because the Audinate Dante AVIO 2-Channel Analog Input Adapter for Dante Audio Network is only compatible with other devices that have Dante connectivity.

Q: 4. Can I pair two consoles together using a NY64-D expansion card without having a Tio1608-D in place? We want to share channels 1-16 on board 1 with board 2 (programmed as 17-32), and vice-versa.

A: By connecting both consoles via a Dante network you will be able to share information with any other device on the network.

Q: 5. How deep is the unit?

A: W16.75" x D10”

Q: 6. Is it possible to route an input to two inputs? (e.g. analog 1-8 to MADI 1-8 as well as Dante 1-8 at the same time)

A: According to Ferrofish, the internal matrix allows the free routing and splitting of all 176 Inputs to all 176 Outputs in blocks of 8 channels, so you would be able to split out analog inputs to MADI and Dante.

Q: 7. What is the round latency spec for each sample rate?

A: Roundtrip latency would be calculated by having an analog conversion and back again. The Focusrite RedNet PCIeNX Dante PCIe Dante Interface Card does not have any analog IO, so to measure roundtrip, it would need to be paired with another device to measure, which would also add to the latency time. Being that all analog IO has slightly different latency specs, Focusrite did not want to release a spec based on a specific analog IO’s latency spec along with the cards. This is why Focusrite uses the terminology 'ultra-low roundtrip latency'.

Q: 8. Is this compatible with 01V96 mixers?

A: Unfortunately it will not work with the 01V96 mixer. That expansion is only made for the TF series.

Q: 9. I would like to use Dante Via to route the digital channels from our Yamaha TF1 to and from various software packages (Wirecast, Zoom, Skype, iTunes, etc.) on our Mac Pro. Will this card allow me to do this? I am assuming it would communicate over an ethernet (Cat 5e) from the NY64-D mixer expansion card in the TF1 mixer to our Mac Pro, Correct?

A: The Yamaha NY64-D will add Dante connectivity to the TF1 mixer, enabling it to transmits and receive up to 128 Channels of audio within the Dante Network and communicate with Dante Via. The connection is done with Cat 5e cabling as you've stated.

Q: 10. Are the euroblocks unbalanced compatible?

A: No they are not: Connector Euroblock (Balanced) 3.81 mm Pitch
