Keep your network's internal services and resources hardened against direct access while still allowing work from home or a remote location with VPNs. Easily deploy a wide range of VPN solutions and manage access permissions and bandwidth allowances.

Secure and fast, Synology's SSL VPN solution requires minimal setup on Windows, Mac, Ubuntu, and iOS, making rapid deployment as easy as logging into a web portal.

Clientless WebVPN for centralized access to company intranets and web back ends. Easily login from anywhere with only a browser for a secured connection.

SRM's Smart WAN capability on the RT2600ac supports 2 Gbps Dual WAN combined bandwidth when multiple connections are established. If one of the connections goes offline due to ISP or cable problems, traffic can failover to the other interface. Load balancing can be used in addition to failover, spreading traffic across both interfaces. Policy route allows traffic routing based on destination or source address.

Not sure which devices should connect to the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands? With Synology's Smart Connect, devices are connected to the most appropriate band automatically, letting users experience simplified management without worry about range or speed issues.

Application Layer QoS and Traffic Report

Application Layer or Layer 7, Quality of Service control shows the bandwidth consumed by individual applications and devices. Restrict the amount of bandwidth for specific applications, without affecting the rest, and generate traffic usage reports sorted by application and device.

Intelligent Web Filtering and Parental controls

Instead of traditional URL-based web filtering, SRM does so during DNS lookup. Easily block out thousands of sites with built-in Google SafeSearch integration and a constantly updated database of customizable website categories.

Intrusion Prevention

Intrusion Detection System analyzes network traffic and logs all intrusion attempts, allowing for fine-tuning of your firewall rules with minimal performance impact. Intrusion Prevention System additionally blocks suspicious traffic based on customizable rules.

Security Advisor & QualysGuard

Monitor and check settings and system files for security issues and automatically apply recommended fixes. Synology utilizes the Qualysguard platform to detect and enhance security across all Synology operating systems.

Continuously Updated

Synology is committed to providing fast updates to keep device security up to date for maximum protection. SRM can automatically perform upgrades on a schedule for maximum convenience.

With an external storage device or SD card, the RT2600ac can become a private cloud server with Synology's Cloud Station Suite, allowing easy access to files, photos, and even backups for multiple devices. Mac users also enjoy Time Machine compatibility. Connect devices with USB 3.0 to take advantage of the RT2600ac's powerful connectivity capabilities.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this wallmountable?

A: Unfortunately there is not a wall mount for the Synology WRX560 AX3000 Wireless Dual-Band 2.5G & Gigabit Router.

Q: 2. Are there any network security advantages to this device versus the RT2600AC?

Q: 3. Can this router function as an access point only?

A: Yes. I used it as an AP for 4-5 months, then recently made it my router. Works great in both roles.

Q: 4. Is there a recommended size and speed for the usb drive required to use the Threat Prevention app? I want to make sure my drive is of a sufficient size and I wasn't able to find anything on the Synology website.

A: According to Synology's website, Threat Prevention is only available for the RT2600ac and RT1900ac routers. Threat Prevention is not listed as compatible with the RT6600.

Q: 5. Will this unit accept the RT2600ac in a mesh network along with a MR2200ac? I currently have one of each.

A: The Synology RT6600 AX6600 is not a mesh router.

Q: 6. In which country is this item manufactured?

A: It's Made in Taiwan. Worth to have it. Good product.

Q: 7. Can most customers with basic knowledge install both units & maximize the network or does B&H offer installation services?

A: B&H does not have an installation service. However, the Synology Whole Home Wireless Mesh Wi-Fi Kit is very easy to set up and install. Carefully follow the provided instructions and you will be able to maximize your network.

Q: 8. Is anyone using this with IPS, VPN etc? heard it has performance hits, also heard some stability issues. Have these been resolved? anyone running this over months that can comment?

A: I have been running this router with IPS with no noticeable performance issues for the last several months. The IPS has gotten better with each update. I also use all/most of the parental controls/filters at different levels on my 25-ish devices. My CPU load does seem high, it runs about 3-4, but I don't notice any issues until it gets around 6-8. With the IPS is default, I seem to get a lot of false positive rejections, but I figure better safe than sorry.

Q: 9. The specs says 100 or 240 VAC. Does it mean I can use the adaptor as is in a 220V country?

A: Yes. This Synology Whole Home Wireless Mesh Router kit will work in regions with 220 V AC power.

Q: 10. Does this router have a consistently low latency without latency spikes on wireless? Is the wireless connection reliable?

A: Short answer - yes it's great, best latency and reliability i've had in a router thus far. I've used in a 2,400 sq ft house with PCs, IOS devices, Sonos, XBox, NS on wireless. The gamers in the house were delighted with the router replacement and I did not need to drop the consoles into a DMZ. I am not sure I know enough to give more details, but here goes: used tracert just to check, results are in very low single digits. Occasionally I see the DNS result on the tracert spike up to 12ms or so, but I might have configured DNS incorrectly. (I use OpenDNS as my Internet DNS server, and then the router's address as the primary DNS on the local network.)

Great router, very customizable. Not quite a plug-and-play solution (as compared to say the eero system) but offers much more power and customization options.

After upgrading from a mesh of MR2200AC to the 6600AX used as an Access Point, I kept using the 2200AC's for the mesh and decided to upgrade. This one is about twice as fast, the difference is noticeable. What's very nice with Synology routers, is that a lot of their security and parental control features keep functioning when used as an AP rather than in router mode. They are good routers but I have been using a Firewalla Gold router for about a year which is much better while the Synology's make awesome wifi AP's for the Firewalla router.

I bought this to increase wifi6 coverage in my 2 story 4000sqft home. My primary router is the Synology RT6600ax and does well enough, but because of placement and certain structural features in my home I did have some intermittent weak signal locations on the upper floor.

I went to set this up wired direct to the RT6600ax with CAT6 cable, but in the setup wizard for creating a mesh group it said to unplug before continuing on.

The auto setup took a minute or two and has worked flawless since then. I may buy a third just to place near an outer corner of my house to get good signal out in the recreational area of our yard.

I have Synology NAS devices and thus expected the management software on this router to be good but it is even better than I expected. For example I can control (block) internet access to individual connected devices such as smart-plugs that I don't want phoning home to China and sending my Wi-Fi password. Can also prioritize some devices to get more bandwidth when the network is busy. So TVs don't buffer streaming video just because somebody else is downloading a big file. Configuration options are good for home or office use and includes security features I've never seen on other routers other than the Firewalla network firewall hardware. Can't comment on Wi-Fi range except that it works great everywhere in my apartment. I really appreciate that it has a tiny physical footprint -- unlike so many newer routers it takes up very little space on my office shelf. I don't have a backup internet provider so I can't use the feature that will switch to another internet source when the primary one fails. Even lets you configure an in-router VPN with free licenses for remote connections to your network. Bottom line it provides more than I need right now but has features I may want in the future, so I'm happy.

My cable-company-provided wifi router was giving acceptable speeds, but the coverage was spotty in the corners of my (modest sized) house, so I was looking to upgrade to something a little nicer and with better management features. It's also one of the few routers that has a 2.5Gbit LAN port, for those with a home server with 1Gbit wired network (which I have).

The vertical monoloth design is a lot different from the antenna-encrusted models from most other companies, but reviews claimed it actually has good coverage, and indeed it delivered. I now have a solid signal everywhere in the house, and get ~400Mbit wireless just about everywhere, increasing to just under 600Mbit nearby, with no drops to speak of.

It's a little bigger than it looks in the pictures, but it's got a pleasant, unflashy design that looks WAY better sitting in the average living room than most routers if your home decor isn't spiky gamer hangout or Cyberpunk den. Just quietly blends in. Also, not covered with aggressive flashing lights--three subdued status LEDs, and you can even disable them if you want.

The config software is impressive--it appears to have a full Synology-style OS, with a huge range of features going beyond just networking, if you're inclined to use it as a basic NAS or the like. Took a little while to get used to something so far beyond the simple setup pages of a lot of routers, but certainly powerful, and it also doesn't feel sluggish navigating around.

The only possible complaint at this point is that the wired internet routing doesn't seem to be hitting quite the same speeds as I was getting using the cable company's router directly (maxing out at around 800Mbit instead of the ~900Mbit I've seen before), but it's really hard to say for sure whether this is this router's fault or the cable company's.

We have used Synology products for over ten years (and currently have three NASs) and decided to switch to their RT6600AX for our gateway. We purchased the RT2600AC to have a mesh network. The RT2600AC (and RT6600AX) are typical Synology quality. Their devices are robust, extremely reliable, and easy to manage. The interface on their Synology Router Management (SRM) is very well-designed. It is extremely easy to set up VLANs, wireless access points, users, and to isolate network traffic with firewall rules.
I only had one issue setting up the RT2600AC as a mesh router. The router needs the latest version of SRM 1.3 to work in a mesh setup. Thus I needed to set up the router, update SRM, reset the router, and restart. Upon restart it automatically detected the RT6600AX and allowed it to be used in the mesh network.
