Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the expiration date of your 4x5 Tri-X?

A: As of today's date (1/15/21) the exp date is 10/20/22.

Q: 2. Where can I get this film developed?

A: It depends on where you live. I live in Jacksonville, Fl and I can get this developed 2 different ways. I have a friend that lives in Gainesville that I give to him to get it developed for me. There is another place here in Jacksonville Beach that develops them but it's a little more pricy. If you don't live in either of these places, your best bet would be to look up places on the internet that develops 120 film in your area. Not many places develop these types of films these days. Hope this helps.

Q: 3. Can you use this film for a Holga 120N camera?

A: Yes, works great in a Holga; the 400 speed is better for a variety of light conditions. 100 speed needs a lot more sun especially in the Holga.

Q: 4. can this film be used in a brownie camera?

A: I've used it on a Hawkeye. You need to take 120 film and re-spool it in the dark on a 620 spool. It's really not hard, just take your time and you will be able to do it and then use it. It's alot of fun.

Q: 5. When is the expiration date of this film?

A: The expiration date can generally be from 6 months to 1 year from now.

Q: 6. How many exposures does this roll (for 120 medium format version) come with?

A: He number of exposures is ultimately dependent on the camera you're using. Most standard medium format cameras will produce about 12, but some that produce exceptionally large negatives may yield only 8.

Q: 7. Will this film fit in a Kodak Trimprint 920 Instant Camera?

A: No, it will not. The Kodak Trimprint 920 Instant Camera used Kodak HS144 Instant Film which was discontinued back in 1985. We have no replacement film for use with the Kodak Trimprint 920 Instant Camera, and it is not compatible for use with the Kodak Professional Tri-X 320 Black and White Negative Film (4 x 5", 10 Sheets).

Q: 8. Sorry for such a dumb question, its been ages since I've used this format. How many frames is standard per 120 roll?

A: The number of shots per roll depends on the particular format of the camera being used. 645 cameras can get on average about 15-16 shots depending on the model. 6x6 cameras can get 12 or 13 and 6x7 cameras can get 10 shots per roll.

Q: 9. Why does this film not ship free to Canada on orders over $99? All other 120 Kodak films are eligible for this offer.

What can I say about Tri-X? It's still the greatest, especially in large format. It gives me the best tonal range of all the films I have tried over the last 37yrs.I have used 320 in medium and large format, and 400 in 35. I shoot mostly people in studio and available light(where 320 really shines),giving me that extra stop in open shade with 8x10. It unfortunately it is getting harder to find ,except at B&H! A note to Kodak:Don't take my Tri-X away like you did my Kodachrome 25! Tri-X 320 is still the best product Kodak ever made.

This film makes me like Kodak B&W Products again..... I have long been a user of a variety of B&W and as a professor of Fine Art (Photography) see a lot of products used by my Photo Majors. TRI-X Pan 320 is the film I now recommend to all of my large-format camera students. Great latitude, nice grain and good shadow detail. Hope Kodak continues this One!

Kodak still impresses me through their quality and consistancy. While I prefer slower films, TXP still beats most in the field for consistant results. Their heavier base makes handleing film a breeze, pushing & pulling film is dependable, and for stayability, this is still my number one large format film.

Shooting portraits on 8x10 I have to stop down a great deal to ensure me about the sharpness in the picture. Tri-X is an old and proven good film that keeps what it promises

I learned to photograph on Tri-x 35mm and it always gave me a great image. Years later and I find myself coming back to Tri-X. It is always my go to for black and white in almost all situations. I use it primarily for long exposures (20-90 mins) at night and the negatives scan beautifully. Its consistent across batches and its quality parallels its cost

With my photography, I prefer the contrast and tonal range of Tri-x 320. I usually shoot/develop at 400 for a slight increase in contrast, with no visable grain. Detail reproduction is simply amazing - especially in a contact print. I've found Tri-x is a very good film to use, especially in 4x5 sheets. I use it in my Graflex much of the time with great results. Develops well in Rodinal and HC-110.
