Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this paper require Matte Black or Photo Black in the printer? Another way of getting at this: What is the appropriate ICC profile? I do not see it listed in my printer menu; I have Photo Black loaded in the printer, which means the software lists, fo the most part, only ICCs that use PK. . . But I also am not finding any ICCs on the Epson website (says the ICC for this paper comes with the software), so I am guessing this paper requires MK (Matte Black). . .Any help will be much appreciated!

A: This is a polypropylene-base media and will need to be printed with the Photo Black ink cartridge. The ICC profile is supplied with the Standard Epson Driver.

Q: 2. Dose this support borderless printing?

A: Borderless printing is a functionality of the printer. The Epson Poster Paper Production (210) (24" x 175' Roll) can print end to end.

Q: 3. What type of ink does it go with? Aqueous pigment? Can it take solvent?

A: The Epson Poster Paper Production (210) is for aqueous ink printers only, both dye and pigment. It is not for solvent ink.

Q: 4. Is it 2" core or 3"?

A: The Epson Poster Paper Production (210) (24" x 175' Roll) has a 3" core.

Q: 5. Is this meant to be used with an inkjet printer? If so, what paper settings?

A: Yes. The HP Production Satin Poster Paper is for inkjet printers. In a compatible printer choosing the satin setting should be an option.

Q: 6. Will this paper fit in an HP Z9+ Designjet Z9+ 44" or is it too fat to fit the roll holder area?

A: The HP Production Satin Poster Paper Roll is fully compatible with the HP Z9 series of printers.

Q: 7. What Media Type would I select when printing on this paper?

A: If you are using an Epson printer you would have "Poster Paper Production " as a paper option.

Q: 8. What is the paper weight?

A: Weight: 200 g/m per ISO 536 Test MethodThickness: 228 microns/9 mil per ISO 534 Test Method

Q: 9. I use Epson Surecolor Commercial P7000 printer. I wonder if anyone can tell me the quality output of paper compare to Epson Proofing Semi matte paper?

A: Epson Poster Paper Production (210) is a slightly thinner paper than the Proofing semi matte but it has a much higher brightness, 140% vs 90% on the proofing paper.

Q: 10. Is this paper compatible with Epson Stylus Pro 9890? Also does the 200 ft roll fit the printer.

A: Yes the Pro 9890 will work with the 36"x200' Poster Paper roll.

While the Platine prints on my Epson printers use a printer profile for Premium Luster paper, it produces deeper B&W images than the good all around Premium Luster Epson paper. The Platine paper provides a brighter, deeper result for B&W images than many other papers that I use. It is a 17 mil paper, thicker than other less expensive Epson papers, and it provides a subtle texture that you don't see in the other satin finish paper on the market. It is more expensive than the workhorse Epson Premium Luster paper, but it is worth the extra cost for many of your images.

I had been using Epson's Velvet and this new Platine paper gives better color and contrast than any paper I have used in the past for the kinds of prints that are appropriate for this surface. The new Legacy Baryta is great for portraits and the Etching works very well for matte prints and B&W work. I'm happy with all four of these new papers from Epson. The Platine is exceptional in my view.

I've tried quite a few fine art papers including Hanemuhle Baryta FB 350 gsm, Photo Rag Baryta 315 gsm, along with Canson Baryta Prestige and others and find this paper is outstanding for color reproduction, detail, texture and overall thickness. It's a new favorite for me. Got it on sale and has paid for itself.

The paper is awesome, I highly recommend. Has a 3d quality to it that is hard to describe. The Legacy Platine sheet paper comes in a really nice box however the roll paper does not. The roll paper is shipped in the worst box I've ever seen roll paper shipped in. Looks like something they dug out of the trash bin to put the paper in. Epson, kudos to you guys for creating an incredible paper and shame on you for putting it in such a terrible box.

I love this paper for B&W prints. I am using a P800 with Epson inks. I have not measured the Dmax with a spectrophotometer, but it is noticeably greater than Exhibition Fiber on my Epson 4900. The tonality is also wonderful. The paper almost has the feel and texture of a real silver print. I have used this paper less for color, but have been very happy.

As advertised, these papers have wonderful depth and richness, a good heft, rather like F papers in silver gelatin photography, which is what Epson intended. Epson Ultra Premium Luster, which I've been using up to now, is a resin-coated paper, i.e., it's basically plastic. The Platina and Baryta papers should be more archivally sound, and, indeed, the prints are richer than what I've been getting on Ultra Premium Luster. The Baryta paper is supposed to be slightly brighter than the Platina, but I can't really tell the difference. One trick, however, that I discovered accidentally: if you use the Baryta profile for Ultra Premium Luster, you get exactly the same richness--you won't be able to tell the prints apart, except by feel (thicker paper vs. thinner, and more slippery, resin-coated). I'll be using Ultra Premiuim Luster with the Baryta profile henceforth for most prints, and then Platina or Baryta for prints I want to mount.

I love the new line of Legacy papers from Epson. They went big on this line but it is totally worth it. The packaging, the paper and quality scream 1st class. If you are going to print why not print on the best.

New papers are a dime a dozen, but Legacy Platine stands out. It's similar to, but different from Legacy Baryta and Exhibition Fiber. The finish is a little finer, the paper itself has a little more heft, there's something about it that's hard to define. This is the paper for my best images.
