I'm a big fan of the Westcott lighting system - great products with reproducible results every time. Since my FJ80 is often used as a on-camera strobe I needed the confidence that I could get through a shoot without losing the power of the unit. The extra battery allows that. They take a long time (like 2 hours or so) to charge, so the spare is vital. I also shoot with it off-camera using the remote (along with my set of FJ400 strobes). It's certainly more convenient and cost effective than a bunch of AA batteries! 5

It's a battery, it's necessary in the field, it's heavy, it holds a TON of full power charges. I'd be cautious of heading to an on location unpowered shoot with only one battery on your strobe. Have a back up. 5

After one of my original FJ400 batteries failed early, but out of warranty, so I ordered a replacement. The new one did the job perfectly. When I went to install it, however, I was shocked. Thirty minutes before the replacement arrived, I took the defective battery to a disposal site, only to learn when the new one arrived, it does NOT come with the metal retainer clips required to connect battery to the flash. While I was able to retrieve the clips, since they are screwed to the battery I assumed they came with them. LET THE BUYER BE WARE: unscrew metal retainers to use on replacement battery. 5

This battery will double the number of flashes available for your FJ80 without needing to recharge anything. When your current battery in the flash is temporarily exhausted, just lift it off the FJ 80 and insert this extra battery in its place; couldn't be simpler. 5
