The Fujinon MK50-135mm T2.9 Lens in E Mount is a lightweight cine-style zoom lens for E mount cameras with a Super 35mm-sized sensor. It features a mechanical design with three independent lens control rings: focus, iris, and zoom. Each ring incorporates a cine-style gear with a 0.8 MOD for interfacing with standard cine -style lens accessories. The focus ring features approximately 200° of rotation, which provides room or precise focus pulls, and the iris is clickless, enabling smooth iris pulls. The lens also incorporates a macro mode for close focusing capabilities.
The lens is color matched to other Fujinon lenses such as the HK, ZK, and XK series, which enables smooth intercutting between lenses. The 85mm front enables use with many cine-style matte boxes via use of optional step up rings (rings not included). The lens weighs only 2.16 pounds, which is fairly light for a cinema zoom that holds focus and aperture throughout the focal length range. It is designed for camera's with a Sony E mount, so it has a short flange focal distance, but the lens allows flange focal distance adjustment so you can fine tune it to the camera you are using the lens on.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. is a lens collar/support neededif on Sony FS7ii?
A: The FS7 Mark II does have a locking E-Mount, as you can see from this photo on our website it is possible to use it without the collar and lens support. https://bit.ly/2B5OfkR However it may still be a good idea to use it for further stability and protection to both the lens and e-mount on the FS7II.
Q: 2. How would these lenses perform on a Sony Alpha a7R IV, say compared to the 2 Sony video lens, ie FE PZ 28-135 F4 OSS and E PZ 18-105 F4 G OSS?
A: Both the Fujinon MK18-55mm T2.9 Lens (Sony E Mount) and the Fujinon MK50-135mm T2.9 Lens (Sony E Mount) would be compatible for use with the Sony Alpha a7R IV Mirrorless Digital Cameras. While I have not seen optical performance comparison tests between the Fujinon lenses and the Sony lenses, both would be compatible for use on the a7R, and should have similar build quality and performance.
Q: 3. Is there a 1/4-20 mount on the bottom of the lens to use with lens support of this kind?
A: There is none. I suspect since the lens is made of composite materials and is consequently very light at only 2.16 lb / 0.98 kg, no provision was made for a rod lens support. Less gear is helpful in a one person band for speed and weight and it works hand in glove with the Sony FS7 Mark II with the stronger E mount. However, I hear you so you could always set up your 15mm rods and then support the lens with this: Tilta 15mm LWS Rod Lens Support B&H # TILST05 or this Wooden Camera Universal Lens Support (15mm LWS) B&H # WO175400.
Q: 4. The M4/3 version with a passive adapter could allow this lens to work on a Sony E Mount too?
A: This could work with a Micro four thirds to E-mount adapter, though it may present issues with maintaining infinity focus.
Q: 5. Is it officially rated by Fujinon to shoot 4k?
A: Fujinon does not list these lenses officially as 4K. They are, of course, used on 4K cameras and no one is complaining. I suspect some compromise was taken so that the price point could be reached.
Q: 6. Are zoom servos and controllers available for these lenses?
A: Yes, there is the Chrosziel Compact Zoom Control V2 Kit (SKU: CHCDMMKZ2) https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1520043-REG/chrosziel_cdm_mk_z2_mk_zoom_ii_lens.html , which would be compatible with these lenses and controllable with a standard LANC controller, such as the VariZoom VZ-Rock (SKU: VAVZROCK) https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/330007-REG/VariZoom_VZ_ROCK_VZRock_Variable_Rocker_for_LANC.html
Q: 7. To be clear, I can switch mounts between E and MFT with the help of MTF Services but can not do so on the X version of this lens, right ?
A: correct because of the difference in Flange distances between E, MFT mount and Fuji X you can not change this to an X mount here are the flange distances for the mount systems E mount:18 mm Micro Four Thirds System: 19.25 mm Fujifilm X-mount: 17.7 mm
Q: 8. Do we keep the autofocus feature like with the original Sony lense or these are used only with manual focus?
A: Unfortunately, this lenses only offer manual focus.
Q: 9. Will they come out with a EF lens ?
A: The great advantage of E mount is that it eliminates the need of making lenses that have to leave room in the optical path for a mirror. Thus the lenses are shorter, smaller in diameter and less costly to build. However, these same lenses, because they do not allow for that mirror distance from the sensor, cannot work on EF cameras. If you were to mount it, the lens would create its image on a plane in front of the sensor. In other words, the lens could not focus and your image is a big blur. So if Fujinon were to make a lens of this focal length for EF, it would be longer, wider and more expensive.
Q: 10. Is the mount on the MK lenses interchangeable? Say, if I have the E-Mount version. How could I change it to MFT mount?
A: MTF Services Ltd offers B&H # MTFUJIM43 , which is a Micro 4/3 Mount for Fuji MK Lens. This allows you to convert this lens to MFT mount. https://bhpho.to/2sqfi60
