Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. how often do I need to change the ink?

A: Every person usage of ink us different. Printing size, Black and White VS Color , type of media you are printing on. It is always recommended to have at least one extra on hand, just in case you need in middle of a print job

Q: 2. Do you8 have a recycle program for ink and toner cartridges?

A: Even though I usually buy these cartridges from B&H, I take my used ones to Staples for recycling. I get credit for them in the same way I do for ink cartridges I've bought from Staples. I find it easier to just take them in when I go for office supplies than to pack them up and ship them somewhere (like back to B&H). My guess is that other stores that take cartridges for recycling (e.g., Best Buy) would also take them.

Q: 3. What is the difference in HDX and HDR ink?

A: HDX inks are denser and are more expensive printers. Epson P800 has 9 HD inks, Epson Surecolor has 11 HDX inks that include an Orange and a Green. The orange is useful in portraiture and green in spot colors for designs and vivid light on green foliage.

Q: 4. I bought an Epson SureColor P800 printer in 2019 & never set it up. Am setting it up now. The ink cartridges are still in their vacuum packages, never opened. The expiration date was Dec 2021. So they're 5 months past. Do I risk clogging the heads if I use these expired cartridges? Should I toss them and buy a new full round of fresh cartridges?

A: Ink can change consistency over time meaning expired ink can cause the print head to get clogged. I would recommend using a fresh Epson T850 UltraChrome HD 9-Ink Cartridge Set.

Q: 5. Will this work in a Stylus Pro 3880?

A: No, this ink cartridge is only compatible with the P800 printer.

Q: 6. Does this ink work with the new Epson P800?

A: No they are for the 3880 series. The P800 uses a different ink set.

Q: 7. does this ink work with stylus pro 9800?

A: No, the Epson UltraChrome K3 Light Light Black Ink Cartridge (80 ml) is designed for the Epson Stylus Pro 3880. For the Stylus Pro 9800, you will need the Epson T603900 Light Light Black UltraChrome K3 Ink Cartridge (220 ml), B&H # EPLLBCU22788.

Q: 8. Will this cartridge work on the Epson SC P-807 I purchased in Asia?

A: This cartridge is for US printers .

Q: 9. Will this cartridge work in the Epson SureColor P600 printer?

A: The Epson T850600 does not work with SureColor P600 printers, only the P800. For the P600 you would need the T760 cartridges. Vivid Light Magenta - B&H # EPT760UCMAG.

Q: 10. This sounds dumb but I have heard that B&W printing uses some color inks in the mix. What inks should I keep in stock for B&W printing besides the obvious 4 blacks?

A: I would recommend to keep all 9 ink cartridges in stock. Just to be safe. Depending on the printer model, some printers will not print if a cartridge is empty.

For my printer, I prefer OEM ink. It's that simple. I don't want to take a chance on my images having issues in 20 (or more) years because the ink was substandard.

I do a lot of printing and I use ONLY OEM ink. I'm not sure I could buy non-OEM ink for my P5000, but even if I could, it's just not worth it. I want my prints to last!

I only use OEM. Not worth the chance or effort if non-OEM ink were to gum up the works, so to speak.

In photography, there are places to cut costs and corners and places not to. Serious printers should be using OEM ink. If you are serious about your prints and how long they last, IMO, OEM is the only way to go.....

Where ink is concerned I only use OEM. It's not worth a clog, spill or worse to save a few bucks.
