Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I own a epson 3880 and plan to buy a p800 are the inl cartridges compatible between both printers?

A: The ink cartridges are NOT, repeat, NOT compatible. Do not under any circumstances try to use the 3880 cartridges in the p800. You will ruin the p800. I also bought a p800 to replace my 3880 and find that the p800 has better blacks, givers better prints, and so far, is less prone to having the ink nozzles clog than the 3880.

Q: 2. I own an Epson Stylus Pro 4880, which has been working well since I bought it approximately 5 years ago. I am considering purchasing a new printer, and am considering the Epson p800. I also looked over the Epson 4900, which hasn't received very good reviews. I like the ability to print 17 x20, which both printers can do, and the print resolution is advertised as being the same on both models. I guess my question is why would I buy the more expensive 4900? What advantage does the 4900 offer that the P800 lacks?

A: Congratulations on making the 4880 work for you; I never could, but mine was used, and I never knew if it was really working correctly or not. But my P800 has worked better than I expected.I previously had a Chinese version of the 3880, which suited me well, but the P800 with the roll-paper feature is better for me and what I do. It's easier to set up and use than the 4880. Can't speak for the 4900.

Q: 3. About how many 17x22 prints can I get outta this ink?

A: According to a Red River Paper test, the cost of ink is approximately $3.20 for a 17x22 print. Divide your cost for a set of ink tanks by $3.20 and you have your answer. Your results may vary.

Q: 4. does this ink work with stylus pro 9800?

A: No, the Epson UltraChrome K3 Light Light Black Ink Cartridge (80 ml) is designed for the Epson Stylus Pro 3880. For the Stylus Pro 9800, you will need the Epson T603900 Light Light Black UltraChrome K3 Ink Cartridge (220 ml), B&H # EPLLBCU22788.

Q: 5. Does this ink work in the Epson 9880? Your web listing just states that it can be used in the 7880. We have ink with the number T6036, it is written on the box that it can be used for both the Epson Stylus Pro 7880/9880.

A: Yes, the UltraChrome K3 Vivid Light Magenta Ink (Epson Ink code T603600)will work in both the Epson Stylus Pro 7880 and 9880.

Q: 6. What is the difference between the 'old' T850 and the 'new' T850xxxN inks?

A: The Epson T85080N UltraChrome HD Matte Black Ink Cartridge is part of a new series of inks that allow for better efficiency, improved black density, and faster speed .

Q: 7. Will this ink work with an Epson 7800 Stylus Pro ?

A: No, the Epson UltraChrome K3 Matte Black Ink Cartridge (220 ml) is not the correct ink for the Epson Stylus Pro 7800. That printer can use Epson T612800 and T611800 Matte Black ink, which unfortunately we do not currently carry.

Q: 8. does this ink expire?

A: Most ink packaging is dated, but a good rule of thumb that we propose is up to 2 years when stored in a cool, dry, and dark environment

Q: 9. Can the ink expire in the printer before a replacement is needed?

A: Technically, it is my understanding that you should not used expired inks. However, I have had some inks that had expired and I used them until they ran out. I would not start with expired inks however, it is not the best thing for the printer, clogging etc. The inks have a mind of their own.

Q: 10. What is the approximate number of feet that this will print? (Assuming light imagery and mostly large text)

A: I have tried calculating this, but it is pretty impossible. Varies for every image, and I have noticed sometimes certain images drain an ink tank that you wouldn't necessarily guess from looking at the image. But, I can say this: I have had many Epsons over the years and they ALL lean on the light black, and / or light light black cartridges quite a bit. Sometimes i will but a complete set of inks, and it is always the light black or light light black that empty first. So stock up!

Best Ultrachrome HDR Orange Ink Cartridge (200 ml) by Epson on the market. We've tried them all, this one is the best. Very pleased with this Ink. We use it to print photographs on our Epson Printer. Downfall, it doesn't have any other uses outside of the printer, too light for being a paperweight or doorstop.
