Q: 1. IS this mic good for live sound applications? Specifically drum over heads? Or would pencil condensers be a better option?

A: Yes, the Avantone Pro CK-6+ Large Capsule Cardioid FET Condenser Microphone is a very good microphone for recording drum overheads. I has a maximum sound pressure level rating of 136 dB. Small diaphragm condenser microphones (pencil style mics) with similar specs are also suitable. Neither style is better than the other. It's a matter of personal preference, as well as whether you would want to be able to use the same mic for other applications, which many people often do. The CK-6+ is a versatile mic that can be used for numerous recording applications.

A: Hello. These are great mics, an excellent choice for recording in general. As for the sphere you're referring to, we're not sure as to what item you mean. The iD4 is an upgrade from the Motu M2 being used previously. The depth of sound produced when replaying recordings and movies is spectacular. I've only recorded digital piano so far, looking forward to voice recording. Controls and dials are on point with the iD buttons extra functionality. Highly recommend.

I upgraded my iD4 to the MKII version, mainly to use the more reliable USB-C connection. I had seen some connection problems with the older unit. Besides that, I see improved sensitivity, and really low noise so I am happy with my purchase. I love the interface!
