The Gitzo GIGT2545T Traveler Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod is a compact support system with legs that fold around the center column and optional head. These reverse-folding legs contribute to the tripod's folded length of just 17.5". It extends to 60.8" high and can hold up to 26 lb worth of gear. With the included short center column installed, the tripod can get down to 8.7" for macro or low-angle shooting.

The tripod employs Carbon eXact tubing for added strength and stiffness compared to the Carbon 6X tubes. Traveler G-lock is a pared-down version of Gitzo's G-lock, specifically designed for the Traveler tripods to reduce overall size. These Series 2 legs will accept a variety of interchangeable feet and come with removable rubber feet. A shoulder strap is included for easy carrying.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you mount a Manfrotto ballhead on this tripod?

A: I installed a Really Right Stuff BH-30 Ballhead on that tripod. Works well.

Q: 2. Is 2545T a much stronger tripod than 1545T? I noticed there is a $300 difference but both are supporting about the same working height!!

A: The GT2545T is a Series 2 while the GT1545T is a Series 1. The Series 2 has thicker legs so that makes for a more rigid hold. Its suggested to move up to a Series 2 if you routinely shoot with lenses up to 300mm. If you don't plan on going above a 200mm then the Series 1 should be adequate.

Q: 3. How does the GIGT2545T differ from the GT2545T? Only difference I can see is the GT2545T comes with a ball head.

A: That is correct, the head is the difference.

Q: 4. what is the overall diameter of the tripod when folded?

A: I'm assuming by your question by diameter you mean the distance all the way around the tripod. If you mean diameter to mean the distance straight across the widest point when folded, it would measure about 4 . Not sure what the relevancy of that measurement is. The most important statistics are weight and what it folds up to and what height it extends to. All of those numbers are accurately provided for on the product site. Hope that clarifies.

Q: 5. Is theiir a hook aus on the gt2542t ?

A: It does not but between two leg hinges on the bottom edge of the base there is a built in ring/pass through. It's meant for the shoulder strap but you could easily but an S Hook in it and hang a bag. It's slightly offset from center but not by far. It's heavy duty and not going to break off.

Q: 6. Confused about whether the gt2545t has one or more intermediate click-stops for the legs. Reviewer here says no, but I've found nothing anywhere else to confirm that?...Thanks!

A: if you're talking about the stop(s) that determine the leg angle, there are two, one which puts the tripod in a tall position and one which puts it in a very low position - I only use the low position with the legs fully collapsed as I think otherwise it would put too much sideways stress on them. I have an FLM head on it and it still fits (snugly) in the carry bag. I've taken it to Japan with me and put everything from a 1937 folding Zeiss to a 4 x 5 Technika on it and I'm sure it would be OK for my 5 x 7 and even my 1903 Seneca wooden 8 x 10. I've used it with a C100 Canon video cam as well - not as resistant to twisting as a real video tripod but reasonably OK. Love it!

Q: 7. Are there any dimension restrictions on the size of ball head that can be attached? I was looking at the Really Right Stuff BH-40 with base diameter of 2.1 inches or the BH-55 with base diameter of 2.9 inches. I'd like the legs to still be able to fold up without obstruction.

A: I owuld recommend the BH40 head, it is a more appropriate size for the Gitzo tripod.

Q: 8. Is the 2545T compatible with GXP and can it be folded back smoothly?

A: The Gitzo GIGT2545T Traveler Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod can support the Acratech GXP Ball Head with Lever Clamp (B&H # ACGXPBHLC) with the 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16 base mount. The GXP head base may be a bit larger than the base plate of the tripod legs. The tripod legs do fold back smoothly.

Q: 9. How would an Arca Swiss D4 head pair with the 2545T?

A: The Arca-Swiss d4 Tripod Head with FlipLock Lever Quick Release will work with the Gitzo GIGT2545T Traveler Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod. I would say, that a larger tripod would be a better choice. Such as the Gitzo GT5543LS Systematic Series 5 Carbon Fiber Tripod.

Q: 10. Im undecided about max load capacity. My gear is a total weight of 18lbs. Will the 26 pound weight capacity be enough? I always want to take into consideration leaning on the lens while shooting. Does anyone have a rule of thumb they use when deciding on weight capacity?

A: There isnt necessarily a rule of thumb, as how close you can get to a tripods max load limit can depend on who manufactured the tripod. That being said, Gitzo tripods are excellently made, and never over sell their max load capacity. You should have no issues using 18lbs of gear on this tripod.

this is the 4th tripod I bought from Gitzo. Gitzo improved the design from time to time. This version is way better than the one from 10 years ago. light, fordable and reliable. I wish I should've buy this tripod with the tripod head. They make very sophisticate head with arch-swiss standard.

Love this tripod, although not a budget tripod. I had a BeFree photo that just wasn't up to it when I upgraded to a Nikon 850 especially with the 24-70 f2.8 attached which doesn't have a collar. Might have gotten away with just upgrading the ball head but decided to go all in. I paired this we the RRS BH-40 head and it is rock solid even in the New England winter wind. Not a light combo but fits on the outside of my larger camera backpack. Doubt it will fit in overhead space outside a camera bag but I knew it would have to go in my checked bag. I might try just carrying it on as a personal item in addition to my camera bag. Expensive but you do get what you paid for with this item.

Excellent tripod for use when backpacking into the back country. I use mind with either a Gitzo #GH1720 QR pan & tilt Birding head for my spotting scope, and also for a lightweight Gimbal head with my Olympus OM-D-E1X camera system.
Very pleased with this tripod; even tho I had to add several accessories to it to fit my needs. Reasonably priced, and of

I recently purchased the Gitzo GT255T tripod as a replacement for a well-used Sirui N-2204. These are both excellent tripods rated for similar camera + lens weights. The Gitzo is considerably more expensive. The additional price translates to a tougher, beefier piece of equipment, a little more height, and more stability at full extension. These days, I am primarily shooting with a Wimberley head, a Nikon D4, a Nikkor 200-400mm lens and a 1.4 TC - a fairly heavy setup which I lug over my shoulder through the Alaska bush. I hesitated to spend this much on a tripod, but now that I am using it, I couldn't be happier with its performance.

I use this with a Kowa TSN 883 spotting scope, and as a compromise between lightness and strength this tripod is great. Easy to open and close the legs and the center shaft is stiff and effective. I have it paired with the Gitzo GHF2W panning head which is also excellent once you have it dialed in. Yes, a heavier, stiffer tripod would be more stable in windy conditions but that's the compromise.

I started many many years ago with Bogen tripods and moved up to Gitzo when I needed the extra strength for my old Pentax 6x7 film camera. Now after many more years I have gone from mid weight gear such as my 5D Mark II to the Fuji X system and this tripod is the absolute best I've had. It has very limited flex along with great strength. The feel is solid but it is also very light. Truly amazing how far tripods have come over the last 20 years! I highly recommend this tripod. I use it with an Acratech Ultimate ball head. It is perfect for travel in carry on (just take the head off) and for everyday use as well. I have hopefully found my last tripod!

This was sort of a Goldilocks tripod for me. I own three other Gitzo tripods. Two series three from my younger days as a working pro and a series one that I bought several years ago when I retired. So, since all three of the older Gitzo's are just as tight as when I bought them, why change brands? I was looking for a lightweight tripod that could handle a Wimberley Gimbal head and be able to carry on hikes. This series two is perfect. Slightly heavier than the series one and substantially lighter the the series three. Very solid, well made, the correct height and a good weight. Goldilocks might say just right. Highly recommended.

Wanted a tripod that was light weight and would fix in my carry-on luggage. Also had to support my D5 with 150-600 lens. Has worked great with the my camera and lens. Have not been flying with present conditions but it does fit into my carry-on with no problem. Looking forward to again traveling, hiking and photographing wildlife.
