The Gitzo GIGT2545T Traveler Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod is a compact support system with legs that fold around the center column and optional head. These reverse-folding legs contribute to the tripod's folded length of just 17.5". It extends to 60.8" high and can hold up to 26 lb worth of gear. With the included short center column installed, the tripod can get down to 8.7" for macro or low-angle shooting.

The tripod employs Carbon eXact tubing for added strength and stiffness compared to the Carbon 6X tubes. Traveler G-lock is a pared-down version of Gitzo's G-lock, specifically designed for the Traveler tripods to reduce overall size. These Series 2 legs will accept a variety of interchangeable feet and come with removable rubber feet. A shoulder strap is included for easy carrying.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How would an Arca Swiss D4 head pair with the 2545T?

A: The Arca-Swiss d4 Tripod Head with FlipLock Lever Quick Release will work with the Gitzo GIGT2545T Traveler Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod. I would say, that a larger tripod would be a better choice. Such as the Gitzo GT5543LS Systematic Series 5 Carbon Fiber Tripod.

Q: 2. Is theiir a hook aus on the gt2542t ?

A: It does not but between two leg hinges on the bottom edge of the base there is a built in ring/pass through. It's meant for the shoulder strap but you could easily but an S Hook in it and hang a bag. It's slightly offset from center but not by far. It's heavy duty and not going to break off.

Q: 3. Anyone use this tripod for very long exposures--5 or 6 minutes?

A: The Gitzo GIGT2545T Traveler Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod can be used for exposures longer than 6 minutes.

Q: 4. Are there any dimension restrictions on the size of ball head that can be attached? I was looking at the Really Right Stuff BH-40 with base diameter of 2.1 inches or the BH-55 with base diameter of 2.9 inches. I'd like the legs to still be able to fold up without obstruction.

A: I owuld recommend the BH40 head, it is a more appropriate size for the Gitzo tripod.

Q: 5. Would this be a good choice for a KES BH-1, Nikon D750 & Nikkor 200mm f/2 combo? Or for a star tracker, D750 & 14-24mm f/2.8?

A: Yes. The Gitzo GIGT2545T Traveler Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod will support the items you listed.

Q: 6. Would a Gitzo 3-Way Fluid Head work well with this tripod?

A: Yes, the Gitzo 3-Way Fluid Head is a suitable head for the Gitzo GIGT2545T Traveler Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod.

Q: 7. country of origin?

A: Country of Origen at this time is Italy.

Q: 8. Confused about whether the gt2545t has one or more intermediate click-stops for the legs. Reviewer here says no, but I've found nothing anywhere else to confirm that?...Thanks!

A: if you're talking about the stop(s) that determine the leg angle, there are two, one which puts the tripod in a tall position and one which puts it in a very low position - I only use the low position with the legs fully collapsed as I think otherwise it would put too much sideways stress on them. I have an FLM head on it and it still fits (snugly) in the carry bag. I've taken it to Japan with me and put everything from a 1937 folding Zeiss to a 4 x 5 Technika on it and I'm sure it would be OK for my 5 x 7 and even my 1903 Seneca wooden 8 x 10. I've used it with a C100 Canon video cam as well - not as resistant to twisting as a real video tripod but reasonably OK. Love it!

Q: 9. Im undecided about max load capacity. My gear is a total weight of 18lbs. Will the 26 pound weight capacity be enough? I always want to take into consideration leaning on the lens while shooting. Does anyone have a rule of thumb they use when deciding on weight capacity?

A: There isnt necessarily a rule of thumb, as how close you can get to a tripods max load limit can depend on who manufactured the tripod. That being said, Gitzo tripods are excellently made, and never over sell their max load capacity. You should have no issues using 18lbs of gear on this tripod.

Q: 10. Is this tripod sturdy enough to use with a canon 500mm lens with R5?

A: Unfortunately Gitzo GIGT2545T is not strong enough for that combination. I would recommend a stronger tripod like this one. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1328238-REG/gitzo_gt4553sus_systematic_tripod_ser_4_5s.html

Great travel tripod for compact fit and will work nicely backpacking with the light weight. Purchased the Really Right Stuff BH-30 Ball Head with Mini Screw-Knob Clamp and it fits nicely on the Gitzo GT 2545T tripod and can be placed in the Really Right Stuff 19 Compact Tripod Bag. Very impressed with the ease of setting up the Gitzo GT 2545T Series 2 Traveler tripod. Has a very solid feel even when fully extended and can be adjusted quickly. Needed to purchase the Bubble Level for Series 2 Tripods and that seems to help with leveling the tripod. This is the second Gitzo tripod purchased and have been very please with the quality and quickness setting the tripod in the field or in a studio setting.

Best for its size, weight, load, stiffness.

This is the beefiest of the Traveler Tripod line. Good enough to hold even 4x5 camera or a long prime on DSLR. Added Sunway ball head EB-36 @ 9 oz.
Great and a good value as they will last the test of time.

I use this for pretty much everything when I'm working away from home base. I've used it with still and video cams and, while it's not as resistant to wind up during video panning as a real video tripod, it's pretty good. I've used the tripod with up to 5 x 7 film cameras, although more commonly use it with 4 x 5 and MF. I put an FLM head on it because the head has a couple of features that I really like, such as the ability to lock the side to side motion and still use tilt. It's compact enough to fit in my carry-on bag and I've taken it as far afield as Japan and will probably use it in Europe later this year.

Extremely stable, especially for one with 4 section legs. Small enough to fit easily in a check-in bag.

Sold my Series 1 for this model. I needed just a bit more support without adding too much size and weight.

I own G4543LS and needed a smaller more mobile version. Considered 1545T with this 2545T. Physically compared both side by side several times, other reviews helped. My gear is Nikon D7500 and D850, with 16-35, 28-300, and 200-500 though likely not for traveling with this one. The 1545T is great, just felt a slight bit light for travel and wildlife work, but fine for landscape and urban settings. I use RRS BH-30, BH-55, and Wimberly WH-200, and the 1545T might only be best with the BH-30 size range. I chose the 2545T for just a tad bit more strength and stableness, using the BH-30 fits and works great. I even put the Wimberly on it with the D850 and 200-500 and no problem, worked great. For traveling its a great option for me and covers me whatever I need to do. I could probably have been OK with the 1545T - its very good - just always tend to pick a little more capability than I routinely need. No compromises on this pick. Very happy with it.

Now travelling will be fun again. I have been using a Gitzo series 3 systematic tripod and it was weighing me down so after much consideration I decided on the 2545 T and am very satisfied. Still testing it though and waiting for some windy days to try it on 6-8 minute exposures. I am confident though that it will be up to the job. Can’t wait for my next trip. Might even get away with using the included short column. The RRS 30 ball head fits well.

I wanted a smaller tripod that would still be sturdy enough for my DSLR and long glass.
