Due to its light pink color, the Hoya Skylight 1B (HMC) Multi-Coated Glass Filter reduces the bluish cast of daylight to produce a pleasing, warm picture tone. Wise initial investments, Skylight filters help protect your lens from dust, moisture, and scratches that can lead to costly repairs.

A: The UV(C) has the UV properties in the multi-coatings, while the rest of the Hoya UV lines have the UV properties in the glass.The Alpha series is essentially the bottom of the line for Hoya filters, while the NXT series would be considered middle of the line.

A: I have it on my Canon 17-40 and it works wonderfully.

A: The Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G Lens has a 52mm filter thread, so will be compatible with the 52mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Multicoated Filter.

If you intend to put a protective filter on the front of your expensive lens, you would be well advised to put the highest quality Muti-coated filter on your lens. Not only will the filter protect the glass of your lens but a top quality filter such as the Hoya Multi-coated glass filter will enhance the clarity and contrast of your photos. The coatings on Hoya filters are fused to the filter under high heat. Whereas a cheaper filter my use a stick on film instead of a fused multi-coating. 5

The filter does exactly what a skylight filter is supposed to do and the product is not flawed in any way. That being said the only reason you would need this filter is if and only if you are shooting with film. If you don't shoot with film thats what the white balance is for on your digital camera. 5
