Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. has anyone been able to upgrade firmware for this model YN-E3-RT II Controller on a Mac?

A: At this time, firmware updates are limited to PC users only.

Q: 2. Could "no-name" batteries be the reason the flash won't fire? The LCD lights up, the LED lights work fine and the flash communicates with my camera...but the flash doesn't fire, not even when I press the "test" button (which is lit up red and ready to go). Should I try a better grade of batteries?

A: You can try duracell batteries but I don't think that is the issue if the all the lights are on. You may have a defective flash.

Q: 3. Will this flash work with a Canon 5d Mark iv?

A: I recently purchase two of the YN968EX-RT flashes for my Canon 6D. Love them! My 6d uses ETTL-II flash system, and according to Canon's site, so does the 5D Mark IV, which tells me that they should be compatable.

Q: 4. I'd want to use this with a Canon 7D Mk ii - is there a modeling light feature on the flash?

A: Yes, the modeling light works just like a Canon flash. Holding down the depth of field preview button will induce the modeling light.

Q: 5. Do you have YONGNUO YN968EX-RT for Nikon?

A: No, Not for Nikon, I have them for canon, They work very well I use them with gels, I am pleased with them

Q: 6. Does this work with a cannon t7i?

A: Yes. 100% will communicate with the onboard circuity providing both E-TTL / E-TTL II communication.

Q: 7. Does the Flash Exposure Lock feature work with this on the 5D series bodies? I could not get it to work on my 5D Mk II, but it DID work on my 1Ds Mk III

A: Assuming all firmware is up to date, it should certainly work on the 5D series cameras.

Q: 8. Can you turn off the AF focus assist beam or does it always go on in low light conditions?

A: Yes, under the custom settings you can turn it off. C.Fn-08: (AF-assist beam firing) 0: ON (Enabled) 1: OFF(Disabled)The AF-assist beam is not fired from the speedlite transmitter

Q: 9. This is the first speedlite I've ever owned but after installing fresh batteries and ensuring it powered up properly and was communicating with my camera, the flash just won't fire. Not even when I push the "test" button (which is lit up red). Do i just have a defective flash?

A: An exchange for another would be recommended.

Q: 10. How long does it take between flashes to recharge for the next flash?

A: Is a clue ...!!

I bought three of these along with the flash controller to do hummingbird photography. Although the instruction booklet is hard to interpret I was able to use the flashes in the manual mode with low power to stop the wings. So far I have had no problems and have some quite sharp hummers. I will explore the possibilities later in other uses. So far they are a great value at less than one third the price for the comparable Canon flash which already have one and it synced with the controller. Would buy again

I use these flashes manually and it is nice to have HSS. Was able to not have to pull ND filters out last shoot.

I was looking for a flash trigger for my 2 cannon flashes and had been comparing the canon trigger and the Yongnuo. I chose the Yongnuo trigger because of the price and the reviews. I have used the transmitter a couple times since I bought it and it has worked great. I am very pleased with this transmitter. I will be recommending this to my friends.

Works as expected and was easy to pair with my Canon 600EX-RT speedlite. Unless you absolutely want a more expensive name brand Canon unit, I would definitely recommend this item.
