Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I want to plug this directly into a PA that has no phantom power. Can I do this, or will I need a separate power source between the mic and the PA? And if so, what will work? Thank you

A: You will still need a power source. Something ike this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/155422-REG/Rolls_PB23_PB23_Single_Channel.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 2. Hı , can this microphone be connected to Asio sound interface to record directly to computer?

A: Unfortunately no, because this microphone uses a TA4F connector, it is meant to be specifically hooked up to a Shure wireless body pack that accepts this type of connector. There are ways around this, but I would suggest using a different microphone that has a standard TRS or XLR connector.

Q: 3. Can I connect this lavalier directly to a Zoom H5?

A: The Shure MX184 is able to connect directly to one of the 2 available XLR mic inputs on the recorder. It will also receive its power from the recorder.

Q: 4. is this good for noise enviroments? what is best use for this mic

A: This mic is good for speech and vocal. But I would recommend you this mic for speech and presentation. And also You have to adjust the mic gain control in the body pack. If you use the audio mixer, set the mic gain control knob to get the best sound. This is good for speech and vocal. Good luck.

Q: 5. Is the XLR connector female or male? I am connecting to a Roland PA mic input XLR.

A: The SM11-CN features a male XLR jack. This will allow for connection to most PA systems.

Q: 6. Will this microphone work with the Shure Beta inline xlr preamp using phantom power?

A: Yes, it is compatible.

Q: 7. Would this work with a DSLR?

A: You would not be able to directly plug in this mic to a DSLR because the connector is TA4F, which is intended for connecting to a Shure wireless bodypack. For utilizing a lavalier mic such as this in a video application, we would recommend using this mic in conjunction with a portable wireless solution such as the Shure FP15 wireless system. The lavalier would be plugged into the transmitter bodypack and worn by the talent on camera, while the receiver bodypack would be connected to your DSLR or a field mixer. This would also eliminate the issue of the on-camera talent having to be tethered to the camera by the lavalier's cable and would allow for free range of movement as well as a more appropriate shooting distance.

Q: 8. What kind of battery is used to power it up?

A: Not battery powered.

Q: 9. How long is the cable?

A: The attached cable on the MX184 microphone is approximately 4-feet long.

Q: 10. Will this work well with a Zoom H4n recorder?

A: Yes it will. Be sure to turn off the recorder's 48V phantom power.

We recieved our microphone not even 3 days after we ordered it. It was shipped very fast. Also, the microphone doesn't pick up background noise, just the voice of the one talking. It's perfect and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great microphone for a great price. I will buy again.
