The cocoa B6 Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone from Countryman is a miniature lavalier microphone measuring only 0.1" in diameter. It features a 3.5mm locking connector and connects to select Zoom recorders with audio on left and right channels. The B6 microphone provides high-quality audio with low distortion at SPL up to 130 dB on 48V phantom power. The aramid cable, combined with the ultra-thin diaphragm, ensures low handling noise. The tiny size, combined with natural sound pickup, makes the microphone easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection.
The included changeable protective caps (+0, +4, and +8 dB) provide moisture resistance and allow you to adjust the frequency response to suit different applications or to match other microphones. Each of the three omni caps has a different high-frequency response characteristic that controls the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz). This microphone ships with the +4 dB protective cap attached, which boosts the perceived amount of presence in your sound while leaving the lower frequencies unchanged. You can switch to the 0 dB cap in case of problems when using this microphone with high-frequency feedback.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. How long is the cable?
A: The Sony ECM-77B Miniature Omnidirectional Lavalier Mic's cable is specified at a length of 1.2 meters or roughly 6.5 feet.
Q: 2. Im looking for mics to record a concert in a cathedral. Which would work better for that kind of recording? This mic, or the XYH- 6 capsule?
A: I would recommend the Zoom XYH-6, because it replicates the way we would hear a performance, while sitting in front of the stage. Be aware that both the Zoom MSH-6 and Zoom XYH-6 are mic capsules that only work with Zoom recorders with the Interchangeable Microphone System.
Q: 3. Can you use this with a transmitter for a wireless setup?
A: Yes but bulky
Q: 4. Can the E6 with 3-pin XLR be connected to the XLR input with a 48-volt phantom power supply? (Camera or mixer)
A: Yes, the Countryman E6 Earset Microphone with 3-Pin XLR can be connected to the XLR input on a camera or mixer and used with 48V phantom power.
Q: 5. Can I use this mic with just an iPhone or iPad ?
A: The Sony ECM-77B Miniature Omnidirectional Lavalier Mic could be used with an iOS device such as iPhone or iPad if an interface such as the IK Multimedia iRig Pre HD Audio Interface with Mic Pre (BH #IKIRIGPREHD) was implemented in between: https://bhpho.to/3szb3Ve
Q: 6. Is there a belt clip for the silver cylinder?
A: Hi David M, Unfortunately no. Ralph
Q: 7. When using this in RAW (mid and side recorded separately, to balance later in post, rather than blending while recording) on the H5, can the H5 still record a second back-up track at reduced gain? From the little I've read on the tech of mid-side, I'm thinking it could work: capsule's stereo file 1 of 2 is mono-mid on left channel and mono-side on right channel, leaving capsule's stereo file 2 of 2 to record same at -12dB. Good guess, or wishful thinking?
A: Yes!
Q: 8. How does this compare with the 44B at half the price if I'm willing to go with a larger mike. That is, if I don't need the smaller profile, would the 44B do as well?!
A: The main difference between the ECM 77B and 44B other than physical size, would be the frequency response. The 77B extends lower than the 44B, however generally for speech and broadcast applications those would be rolled off. If size is of no importance, the ECM 44B is a fine choice and very popular in broadcast applications.
Q: 9. Do we need a special cable to work with the Canon T6i?thanks!
A: In order to connect the Sony ECM-44B to a DSLR camera we recommend using the Kopul LMT-100 cable. this is designed specifically for this application.
Q: 10. does it have connections for a t5i?
A: The Sony ECM 77B features an XLR connector that is not directly compatible with the T5I, however using a AA battery in the mic plus the proper adapter cable such as the Kopul LMT-100, this mic is able to connect to the 1/8 mic input on the camera.
