This 10-stop, 82mm NiSi PRO Nano IRND Filter is an ND filter with a 1000x filter factor that provides a 10-stop exposure reduction. Its 3.0 optical density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters are intended to not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

The design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light, compared to traditional film, color casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times. To provide a high level of neutrality across the visible and infrared spectrums in order to eliminate color casts and ensure cleaner, truer blacks when using the NiSi 82mm PRO Nano IRND 3.0 Filter, one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating is applied to each of this filter's surfaces. The Nano coating associated with this filter also results in an improved beading effect when in contact with water or oil for greater cleaning efficiency.

This NiSi 82mm PRO Nano IRND 3.0 Filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity, and features a brass filter ring to minimize the potential for vignetting while enhancing durability and jamming prevention.

3.0 neutral density filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.

Providing a 10-stop exposure reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

Filter does not affect coloration of the image and is ideal for use with other filters.

Each surface includes one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating that attenuates infrared light as well as visible wavelengths, to maintain color neutrality and suppress color casts due to increased exposure times.

Nano coating provides an improved beading effect with water or oil for more efficient cleaning.

Constructed from optical glass for clarity.

Brass filter ring helps to prevent vignetting, jamming, and provides additional strength.

Side knurling to provide a more textured grip when mounting or removing it from a lens.

82mm front filter threads allow for use with other filters.

Q: 1. Does the filter come with a case?

A: Yes, the NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (95mm, 16.5-Stop) comes with a case.

Q: 2. Would this work for the upcoming full solar eclipse?

A: Yes, the NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter can be used for the upcoming solar eclipse.

Q: 3. Will this filter give the sun a more white color or a yellowish color?

A: The NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter will produce a near white image of the sun. The yellow/orange that you see in some of the sample photos was added by the users in post.

Q: 4. Which solar filter is for the Nikon 400 mirrorless lens?

A: The Nikon NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S Lens can use the Tiffen Solar ND Filter (46mm, 16-Stop), B&H # TI46ND48. Note, it is not ISO 12312-2 certified. It should not be used to look directly at the sun with our eyes. It can be used for the camera to take a photo of the sun. Look only in the LCD live view to compose the photo. Do not look in an optical viewfinder.

Q: 5. compatible solar filters for Nikon 24-70 mm f/2.8 ED VR?

A: Here are the compatible solar filters for the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR Lens. https://bhpho.to/3Ll2UwO

Q: 6. Does the IR cut cause vignetting on wide angle lenses? I'd like to use this on the Tokina 11-20mm.

A: You may get some vignetting on the wide end.

Q: 7. If this filter is NOT safe for direct eye viewing, why should I believe it IS safe for a camera's sensor? Please convince me.

A: The NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (16.5-Stop) is safe for camera sensors when used carefully and following the instructions. The sensitivities of eyes and sensors are different and what is good for one may not be good for the other. This filter has been used on cameras without causing any sensor damage.

Q: 8. Using this filter and a tracker can the camera be left pointing at the sun for long periods without damaging sensor or lens?

A: Yes, there should be no issue using the NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (95mm, 16.5-Stop) with a tracker when photographing the solar eclipse.

Q: 9. is this appropriate for shooting solar eclipses?

A: Yes, the NiSi Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (67mm, 16.5-Stop) can be used for solar eclipse shots. Note, it is not safe for direct viewing of the Sun.

Q: 10. Could you provide a more specific nm range for this, or is the spectrum available?

A: Unfortunately, ND filters like the Solar Filter Pro Nano UV/IR Cut ND100000 Filter (77mm, 16.5-Stop) that cut UV and IR light do not specify a nanometer range. This is because they are meant for long exposures photos without a color shift and not for IR photography.

I was very surprised at the results of this filter. I wasn't expecting much based on it's price (sale price especially), but when I tested it, I noticed virtually zero difference in sharpness. I also didn't notice much of a color shift either when using it. Definitely worth the money!
