The white B6 Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone from Countryman is a miniature lavalier microphone measuring only 0.1" in diameter. It features a 3.5mm locking connector and connects to select Zoom recorders with audio on left and right channels. The B6 microphone provides high-quality audio with low distortion at SPL up to 130 dB on 48V phantom power. The aramid cable, combined with the ultra-thin diaphragm, ensures low handling noise. The tiny size, combined with natural sound pickup, makes the microphone easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection.

The included changeable protective caps (+0, +4, and +8 dB) provide moisture resistance and allow you to adjust the frequency response to suit different applications or to match other microphones. Each of the three omni caps has a different high-frequency response characteristic that controls the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz). This microphone ships with the +4 dB protective cap attached, which boosts the perceived amount of presence in your sound while leaving the lower frequencies unchanged. You can switch to the 0 dB cap in case of problems when using this microphone with high-frequency feedback.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What kind of connection does this mic have?

A: The Sony ECM-77B Miniature Omnidirectional Lavalier Mic has a standard XLR 3-pin male connector. This mic can be powered with a AA battery or phantom power. An additional cable can also be used together with the attached mic cable.

Q: 2. Is it compatible with the new H8 ?

A: Yes.

Q: 3. does it have connections for a t5i?

A: The Sony ECM 77B features an XLR connector that is not directly compatible with the T5I, however using a AA battery in the mic plus the proper adapter cable such as the Kopul LMT-100, this mic is able to connect to the 1/8 mic input on the camera.

Q: 4. Is it safe to use a NiMH battery (Eneloop) in a Sony ECM-77B lavalier mic?

A: The battery powered Sony mics such as the ECM-77B can accept a rechargeable AA battery with no issue.

Q: 5. Do we need a special cable to work with the Canon T6i?thanks!

A: In order to connect the Sony ECM-44B to a DSLR camera we recommend using the Kopul LMT-100 cable. this is designed specifically for this application.

Q: 6. What is difference between 77 "B" vs "BPT" vs "BMP" vs "BC" versions? Want lav mic with XLR for Audient ID4 in podcast set up. (ECM-77B vs ECM-77BPT vs ECM-77BMP vs ECM-77BC).

A: The differences are in the type or termination, or connector. For the Audient you want the 77-B which has an XLR termination.

Q: 7. This zoom mid side microphone while looking like the one in the box for the h6 is a specifically mid side microphone, and is therefore a solution ? Just looking at mid side processing, and this is a appropriate solution? Stefan....

A: This mid side capsule works with the Zoom H5 and H6 portable recorders, and features two mic elements - one is a middle unidirectional mic that faces forward and one bi-directional side mic that is perpendicular to the first. This set-up enables the "mid-side" recording style, where signals from the center and ambient sounds from the sides can be combined to make the stereo image more narrow or wide.

Q: 8. Does this, like the Zoom SSH-6 Stereo Shotgun Microphone Capsule, allow the H5 to record in RAW, to allow mid-side balance in post?

A: Yes!

Q: 9. When using this in RAW (mid and side recorded separately, to balance later in post, rather than blending while recording) on the H5, can the H5 still record a second back-up track at reduced gain? From the little I've read on the tech of mid-side, I'm thinking it could work: capsule's stereo file 1 of 2 is mono-mid on left channel and mono-side on right channel, leaving capsule's stereo file 2 of 2 to record same at -12dB. Good guess, or wishful thinking?

A: Yes!

Q: 10. Can you use this with a transmitter for a wireless setup?

A: Yes but bulky
